Epic Week- Have to Share!

Epic Week- Have to Share!

It’s been an epic week here at home and I have to share.  I hope you don’t mind.

Russ and I couldn’t have fit in another crazy thing this week even if we wanted to. I shouldn’t say that… the week isn’t over yet.

This picture is a glimpse of what happened.  So many other pics could of been added….

If you are new to my blog, I’ll warn you I am about to ramble.  I don’t do this often but I needed to chat.  Hopefully you were able to see the card I posted earlier today.

A Day in My Life!

Why such an epic week? There was great, good, bad and ugly throughout.  Tonight I stand in awe of what can be accomplished when we keep God in the center of everything.

  • Monday started off with emergency vehicles 5 houses down from me.  At first glance I couldn’t see much but then a few neighbors started coming out (we’re nosy like that) and we found out what was going on.  It was only 10:45 am.  A drunk driver missed the turn and hit our neighbors home.  My first thought- deep sadness when I looked at my watch and saw the time of day and knowing this man was impaired at such an early hour. My next thought? Just 1 hour and 30 minutes prior my daughter was standing there waiting for the bus.  I reflected on this all day long.  God is good.  No one was hurt.  The man was taken to jail. I prayed for all involved.
  • Monday I also had to make an appointment to the dentist.  If you’ve been a reader for any length of time you know how I feel about Mr. Dentist.  My sinuses have still been bothering me and my thought was I better make sure this wasn’t a dental issue with the trip coming up.  Praise God- not the problem.  I then made another appointment to the Dr. to fix me before our trip. This time he gave me a steroid and another antibiotic.  I am thankful I was able to be seen quickly and time to spare.  I’m already feeling better and the steroids have me zoomin’ around the house.
  • Tuesday we meet with our small group from church and it’s one of my favorite days to see my favorite people.  Our pastor is hysterical.  He’s our age and we love him and his family.  He talked with our kids about behaving themselves on the trip, prayed with us and then we all gave him a hug.  He decided to pull Russ out of the car window to give him a big hug and then he promptly put him back via the car window.  I tell you, he’s crazy.  Again, God is so good to put these people in our path.  I came home that night and worked late.  I needed something on my Stampin’ Up! website and low and behold I found out I had earned our next incentive trip with Stampin’ Up!  It was 12:45am.  No one was awake.  I had a little dance party by myself.  I wasn’t expecting to see that I had earned it.   Not yet anyways.  I am blessed with a supportive family, a phenomenal team, incredible customers and a GREAT God.
  • Wednesday was a big day for Brandon as he finally had the springs on his braces removed.  I’m not kidding when I tell you this kid let a few tears go when they were out.  They have been in for a long time and it was a relief to get them removed before the trip.  Then I took both the kids shopping for last minute items.  Last minute for us means EVERYTHING we needed.  Procrastination at it’s finest- as usual.  BUT wait… as if we didn’t have enough on our plate Russ had a grand idea that we could have a giant shed built in our backyard before we left.  The workers showed up at 7am and it should take 3 days to finish. Not a huge deal unless their equipment kept knocking out power to the power source. Which meant I was running to fix the breaker as needed.   Seriously Russ!
  • Today was emotionally draining.  The kids are finishing up their last few days of school.  They’ve had tests, projects due in the midst of all the chaos.  Russ’ boss, a man I have great respect for retired today.  As I sat during the ceremony listening to his speech of the past 30 years of his military career, it resembles Russ’ career so much.  They both flew S-3’s, both had tours in Iraq, many many many deployments…  Tears flowed from my eyes as I reflected on Russ’ career .  A military retirement is a beautiful ceremony with many traditions packed into it.  It was beautiful and we were so grateful this man was in charge during Russ’ stroke. He was compassionate and played a big part in letting Russ finish out his career. He let Russ take the time to recover and ALWAYS respected my opinion before letting Russ jump into anything crazy.  He knew Russ wanted to get back to work fast… he knew I thought differently.  He is a great man and we know God put him in our path for a reason.  I am so thankful we could celebrate with him today.
  • I left the ceremony to grab Brandon after school to get his hair cut.  He looked like a rag a muffin and we couldn’t have that if he wanted to hang in the teen lounge on the ship.  We needed to be quick as I needed to get home and pick up Alexis for her band concert.  Unfortunately the traffic was snarled due to an accident and we were going to be late no matter what.  I could feel the anxiety coming knowing we would be late to the concert.  Somehow traffic seemed to move along and we made it in the nick of time.  The concert was 2-1/2 hours and and pretty darn amazing for middle school kids. Wasn’t expecting it to be that long, but I was so glad Russ and I could attend and be in the moment.
  • As I type the laundry is going.  A few things are packed and there is a list that is growing of things NOT to forget.  Brandon summed it up for me tonight right before he went to bed.  “Mom, let’s not sweat the small stuff- as long as we are together the rest is trivial.”  How true that statement is.

I’m not sure what today will bring but from the looks of this past week, I think it will be epic.  I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve been anxious.  Tons of emotions wrapped into one week all the while God has been in the midst of every single moment.

Lastly, thanks for being in the midst of my path and thank you for listening.

XOXOXO

Safe travel my friend….take a deep breath on the plane ride over; it will be your only opportunity to quiet time. We did a two week trip out of Barcelona and it was absolutely epic!! We needed a vacation after our vacation as we stayed so busy. So much to see and do. You just don’t want to miss a moment of opportunity. Praying for y’all’s safety. Looking forward to your blog upon your return. Cheryl

  6. Sounds like a week full of blessings! Glad that no one was hurt, agreed that it’s so sad that someone was like that so early in the morning.. But God is good, and wastes nothing! Hope you’re having a great vacation! Hope to be one of those SU demos someday!
