Sale-a-Bration Inspiration

Today’s Artisan blog hop is an explosion of Sale-a-Bration inspiration.

Let’s face it, Sale-a-Bration is a huge hit this year with a fantastic product line up.

I love looking on Pinterest and seeing all of the great ideas.  I’m even more excited to see what the Artisan team has up their sleeves today.  Let’s get busy.

Avant Garden

When I saw the samples in the Sale-a-Bration catalog, I couldn’t wait to use the Avant Garden stamp set.

Typically I don’t reach for a floral set, but the samples were so inspiring I couldn’t wait to ink this set myself.

First thought when I inked up this gorgeous flower was water coloring.  I love how this card turned out with a few simple water coloring techniques.

Tips & Tricks

  • Create a watercolor wash using Crumb Cake ink and Aqua Painter onto the Watercolor Paper (2-1/2″ x 4″) first.  Let the ink absorb and dry.
  • Stamp flower image using Archival Basic Black ink then watercolor image using Pear Pizzaz and Flirty Flamingo inks. Stamp the dots image over flower image using Crumb Cake ink.  To achieve a soft look, I stamped off several times before stamping over the flower.
  •  Tear the bottom of the Watercolor paper and curl one end. I like to use my Aqua Painter to saturate the paper, making tearing very easy.  Once torn, attach this piece to another piece of Watercolor Paper measuring 2-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ using dimensionals.
  • Stamp greeting and die cut using Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Attach with a small doily and twine underneath the die cut.

Finally, attach the watercolor paper to your card front of Whisper White (3-3/4″ x 5″) and then onto your Whisper White thick cardstock base (4-1/4″ x 11″).

Solid Flower Image

I wanted to try my inking hands using the solid flower image, and I love how this card came out.

Sale-a-Bration Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Avant Garden

I kept this card pretty simple, so the focus was on the beautiful flower.

Tips & Tricks

  • The flower was stamped using Calypso Coral ink, then watercolored around the image using Sahara Sand.
  • I fell in love with the beautiful Metallic Ribbon on page 11 of the Sale-a-Bration catalog.  Not only does is look fantastic with the shiny gold and silver accents, but also it’s very pliable.   I’m totally impressed, and this is FREE (one silver, one gold) with a $50 purchase.
  • Lastly, the Petal Burst embossing folder was a perfect background addition for this card.

No doubt, the Avant Garden stamp set will provide a delicate touch to any handmade cards with the beautiful floral images and fonts.  Let’s not forget the FREE factor as well.  Every $50 you spend in my online store you can receive a free product from the Sale-a-Bration catalog.

Flourishing Phrases- Artisan Blog Hop

Flourishing Phrases- Artisan Blog Hop

This week the Artisans are sharing projects using a few different sets and one of them is Flourishing Phrases.

Flourishing Phrases was my top pick with the timeless greetings to choose from.

Backgrounds Using a Greeting

Artisan Blog Hop, Flourishing Phrases, Stampin' Up!

The Flourishing Phrases has a beautiful selection of greetings inside of this set.  Have you ever considered using one of the greetings as part of your background?

For this card I simply stamped the Thank You greetings along the entire left side of the Whisper White cardstock using Sahara Sand ink.  I love how this gave the card more interest.

Artisan Blog Hop, Flourishing Phrases, Stampin' Up!

The flower was a simple addition using the Flourish Thinlits.  The florals within this collection are so intricate and delicate looking.

I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to attach the flowers and leaves to this card.  The fine tip on this glue makes attaching intricate die cuts a cinch.

I love the delicate touch this card has and the color combination jumped out at me.  Bermuda Bay paired with the Cucumber Crush has to be one of my favorites.  It’s a clean look and even more bold when you add Basic Black.

Creating a Shadow Image

My favorite image in the Flourishing Phrases stamp set is the large flower.

Instantly I thought of an old technique that would be fun to use with this large image.

Artisan Blog Hop, Flourishing Phrases, Stampin' Up!

Create It!

  • Stamp the large flower onto Crumb Cake cardstock using Whisper White Craft ink.  Let dry or use a heat tool to facilitate the drying.
  • Stamp the large flower again over the Whisper White flower using Watermelon Wonder ink and slightly offsetting the image. By offsetting the image, the Whisper White gives the illusion of a shadow.
  • This technique can be used with any stamp set, but tends to look the best using a large solid stamp.
  • According fold the 3/4″ music note strip of designer series paper from the This Christmas collection.  Attach to the 1″ x 4″ strip of Watermelon Wonder cardstock.  Attach 2 small pieces of a Delicate White Doily and attach to the Crumb Cake cardstock.

Artisan Blog Hop, Flourishing Phrases, Stampin' Up!

  • Stamp the greeting onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.  Die cut using the Layering Circles Framelits.  Wrap and attach a piece of Linen Thread to the underside of the die cut circle, attach to the card front.
  • Layer the Crumb Cake cardstock onto a piece of Watermelon Wonder cardstock and then onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″.
  • Attach a few sequins around the stamped flowers using a Fine Tip Glue Pen.

PS- I survived my trip to the dentist.  It wasn’t bad at all. In fact I had worked myself up into such a tizzy that I felt ill after the procedure over my anxiety and not the actual procedure.  I’m a HOT mess.  No lie.

Here’s a Quick Way to Create For a Fiesta!

Create For a Fiesta

It’s true that Cinco de Mayo festivities have passed, but it’s not the only day we can have a FIESTA!

In fact, I love a good party so I don’t really need an excuse to have one.  There is always one thing that can get me to make up a party and thats beautiful paper.

Every year when I open the new Stampin’ Up! catalog I look at the designer paper and dream about the parties I can have and the ideas of creativity flow depending on the paper that I’m looking at.

I should also add that sometimes the fiesta’s I dream about don’t come to life, but in my head and with paper they do.

Instant Party in My Brain

One look at the Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper and I was hooked.  Instant fiesta planning went into hyperdrive and I wanted to throw a big ole’ FIESTA.

Fiesta, Stampin' Up!

Make no mistake the party favors I was thinking about were off the charts.

I had to calm myself and speak reality to my big ears- Quick and Simple Kimberly.

Today I have a fun party favor idea for your own Fiesta, and of course you will want to thank your guests for coming to the BIG fiesta.  I have a quick thank you note to share too.

The inside of the Fiesta favor features Stampin’ Up!’s Gusseted Cellophane Bags filled with festive candies I found at a local candy shop.  The candy’s are just as bright and fun as the outside of the party favor.

Don’t Forget a Thank You!

I kept my thank you very simple using the Birthday Fiesta Photopolymer Bundle from Stampin’ Up!

Touches of Texture!

Just the title had me squeal for joy at first glimpse of this stamp set.

Let’s Create

I couldn’t wait to put this stamp set, Touches of Texture to good use and play.

I wanted to bring a few products and ideas together so I started this card with a completely different design than normal.

Touches of Texture, Stampin' Up!

Tips & Tricks

Touches of Texture, Stampin' Up!

Typically, I start every single card with a 4-1/4″ x 11 card base.  Not today!

My hope is today’s card  will inspire you to try something completely different and create away.

Here are a few instructions to help you create today’s card.

  • The base of the card is 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Whisper White cardstock. Attach a 1″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Moroccan Designer Seriers Paper to the right edge of the card base.
  • Attach a piece of Whisper White cardstock (3-3/4″ x 11-1/4″, scored at 5-1/2″) to the card base using dimensionals to create the card. When attaching this piece, make sure to leave a 1/4″ edge so you can see the Designer Series Paper.

Touches of Texture, Stampin' Up!

  • Attach a new piece of Moroccan Designer Series Paper (3″ x 4-3/4″) at a slight angle over the new card front so that the left edge meets the edge of the card base.

  • Now its time to embellish.  Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to  3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″.  On the right side stamp the large splatter image using Delightful Dijon ink.  At the bottom stamp the long splatter image using Bermuda Bay ink.  Stamp the flower images over the previous image using Early Espresso ink.
  • Attach Moroccan Designer Washi Tape to the right edge of the cardstock.  Place a 1/4 piece of White Delicate Doily, 1/4″ x 3″ strip of Moroccan Designer Series Paper, and a wrapped piece of Linen Thread over the flower image.  Staple in place using a hand held stapler.
  • Stamp a greeting onto Bermuda Bay cardstock.  My greeting was from the Suite Sayings stamp set.  Die Cut image using the Tags & Labels Framelits.  Attach getting near Designer Paper strip.
  • Attach the card front to the card using Dimensionals.  Place Bermuda Bay Enamel Shapes to the card.
  • Enjoy!

Touches of Texture, Stampin' Up!

While I’m sure this design is not unique, it definitely is a new one for me to try.  I love the layers and the designer paper that peeks out each side as well as the color combination.

Thoughtful Branches

Thoughtful Branches

I’ve got BIG news- a NEW and exclusive stamp set… Thoughtful Branches!

I’m super excited about a sneak peek product I get to share with you today with our Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team and a jam packed Blog Hop using this set.

Thoughtful Branches, Stampin' Up!

A Bundle of Trees

First of all,  I was completely overjoyed with the intricate tree designs bundled with the matching framelits.  This means creating projects with ease. Therefore, no fussy cutting and easy release of the cardstock when using Stampin’ Up!’s Die Brush.

Thoughtful Branches, Stampin' Up!

Most noteworthy of this stamp set is the greetings and fonts.  They are sophistacated making this set easy to use for your stamping projects.

Tips & Tricks

  • All of images were stamped on Whisper White cardstock and the coordinating framelits to die cut them.
  • The tree branch was stamped using Early Espresso Ink. The tree leaves stamped with Bermuda Bay ink, and the bird was stamped using Real Red ink.
  • Smoky Slate cardstock was added as it coordinates beautifully with the Bermuda Bay.  When you take the Real Red and Bermuda Bay together, Smoky Slate is a perfect color match  to coordinate with.
  • The designer paper is from the A Little Foxy DSP Pack.  This is a wonderful collection of patterns in this pack.

Thoughtful Branches, Stampin' Up!

A simple piece of Linen Thread was added behind the bird along with a few white sequins around the tree.

Thoughtful Branches, Stampin' Up!

Just look at the beautiful fonts used for the greeting.  This makes me EXTREMELY happy to see the beautiful fonts Stampin’ Up! has been including in our stamp sets.  WOW.

Adding Woodgrain to the Scene

Thoughtful Branches, Stampin' Up!

The second card I decided to create more of a scene with the trees and birds.  I also incorporated the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on Kraft cardstock to give the card more of the “wood” feel.  I love how it added just enough texture for this card.

Thoughtful Branches, Stampin' Up!

Tips & Tricks

  • I stamped all of the images onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and then die cut the image using the Layering Squares Framelits (2-7/8 square).  I then layered with a scallop square (3″ scallop) using Dapper Denim.
  • The grass was stamped using Cucumber Crush ink.  I love how fresh this color looks next to the Dapper Denim.  The birds were stamped using Dapper Denim and Daffodil Delight.
  • The Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper added a little sunshine to the card.
  • Enamel Shapes (Regals) were added around the square die cuts for a finished look.
