Specially Designed

Why are we coming together for a blog hop? It’s simple.  To inspire you.

Each designer will be using the stamp set or technique they chose to use for the February tutorial so you can get a taste of their creative design. It’s not the same idea thats listed in our tutorial, only the technique or stamp set.

Now, let’s create!!

Nailed It!

For the February tutorial, I chose to use the Nailed It stamp set. I picked this stamp set more for a challenge than anything.  Seeing how I’m not much of a “tool” girl.  It was the perfect challenge, and I took it one step further.

I decided to create one card that was more frilly and another card with a splash of man! Let’s see how they came together.

Tutorial Bundle Blog Hop, Stampin' Up!

The addition of the doily was the perfect addition of girly I was trying to achieve.

My favorite part of this card is the greeting.  It’s not just a simple thanks, but thanks for building “ME” up.  I LOVE this!

Tips & Tricks

  • Watercolor using Dapper Denim and Smoky Slate ink onto Watercolor Paper measuring 4″ x 5-1/2″.
  • Save 10% by purchasing the Nailed It bundle.  This bundle includes the stamp set (clear or wood) and the Build It Framelits Dies.  Click HERE to see this bundle.
  • Two pieces of the Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper was added to the card front.  This paper is fresh with modern designs perfect for the man card or an eclectic look with the great designs.
  • Don’t forget to add the self-sticking Urban Underground Embellishments.  You will see these are used on both card designs.

The Man Version

Tutorial Bundle Blog Hop, Stampin' Up!

I wish making “man” cards would come easy for me to create.  The fact is- they are NOT.

Once I got my groove on, the idea started to flow.

Tips & Tricks

  • Using Crumb Cake cardstock, texture emboss the cardstock using the Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder.  Then die cut using the Build It Framelit (hexagon die).  Finally, attach the hexagons onto the Crumb Cake cardstock at the top.
  • Stamp the hammer onto Smoky Slate and Dapper Denim cardstock with coordinating ink and die cut.  Cut the bottom handle of the Dapper Denim hammer’s and attach to the stamped Smoky Slate hammers.

I’ve enjoyed working with the Nailed It bundle.  Surprisingly I’ve made more girlie cards using this set than cards for a man.  I guess a girl who loves a doily can turn any man set into something universal.

Be Inspired!

Now it’s time to see what the rest of the team has created.  Your next stop is a dear friend and incredible designer, Kylie Bertucci.

I’ve always been inspired by Kylie’s work which is a clean simple style. Click the button below to follow the hop and see the work of this fun design team.  You can see the entire line-up of designers for the tutorial bundle blog hop below.

Mix It Up with Stampin’ Up!

Mix It Up with Stampin’ Up!

One of the fun things about a new catalog getting ready to launch is the mixing the old with the new.

In my case today, I’m mixing new and newer.  Ha.

I’ve been dying to use the Wherever You Go stamp set and finally had the opportunity.

This stamp set is awesome for a collage looking card, but I had another idea.

Create It!

Mix it up, Stampin' Up!, Wherever You Go

The images in the Wherever You Go stamp set are perfect and it was an excellent set to pair with the new Sending Thoughts stamp set.

Another perfect mix it up product is the Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper.  WOW! I’ve been playing with this designer paper the entire day and I love it.

Finally a perfect designer paper to create manly cards.

To create this card:

  • The designer paper measurements: 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″, 2-1/4″ x 5-1/4″.  These pieces are placed onto a Basic Black cardstock measuring 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″.
  • Place a strip of Basic Black cardstock between the designer series papers measuring 1/2″ x 5-1/4″.
  • Cardstock base is Whisper White Thick cardstock measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″.
  • Main focal point is Whisper White cardstock measuring 3″ x 4″.  Stamp images using Basic Black and Delightful Dijon Classic Inks.
  • Stamp greeting using the Sending Thoughts stamp set, die cut using the Tags & Labels Framelits.

One Wild Ride-Stampin’ Up!

One Wild Ride-Stampin’ Up!

Life is one WILD ride, but it’s fun when we can stamp a wild RIDE.

One Wild Ride

Today’s stamp set I’m sharing is so fun and perfect for making a dude card.

One Wild Ride is filled with masculine images but don’t let that stop you from taking this set and remembering all of our women who love to ride motorcycles.  This could turn into a fun chick card quickly.

One Wild Ride, Stampin' Up!

I love the texture images that are included in this set and the greetings are perfect for men and women.

One Wild Ride, Stampin' Up!

Tips & Tricks

One Wild Ride, Stampin' Up!

I knew from the start I wanted to start with the following color combination-Black, Pumpkin Pie, Sahara Sand and a splash of Silver.

  • The largest Layering Circle Framelits were used to keep the motorcycle as the focus.  The scallop is set snug against the circle die cut, making this a hit in my book.
  • Basic Black Metallic Thread is set behind the scallop circle die.  I like to fold this thread in half twice.  Then I wrap around in a messy circle and keep in place with a single dimensional.
  • The banner was die cut using the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  There is no need to fussy cut a banner anymore.  This banner framelit set provides the perfect solution to the perfect banner for many stamp sets in the catalog.

Shaking Up a Masculine Card

Shaking Up a Masculine Card

I love to shake things up and today I’m sharing a few masculine cards and one is a shaker card.  YAY!

Plus it’s a beautiful Sunday to share inspiration with my friends at the Creation Station.  Another YAY! YAY!

Masculine, Stampin' Up!, Going Global

Masculine Means….

It’s almost as if I had to lock up my delicate doily selection so I wouldn’t make this masculine card all “pre-ttay!”  It’s not easy friends.  I can slap a doily on any card QUICK.  Today… not so much.

We’ve talked about this before- Masculine cards are not easy.  I have to reset my brain to the right man mode to create for the man.  Sometimes it works and other times these cards are quickly in need of “something” or head to the big creative trash can.

So what does make a great masculine card? My definition would be …

Masculine Card = Any card that does not have a doily on it.

HA HA HA HA!

Let me share my first card!

Lucky Stars

Masculine, Stampin' Up!, Going Global

The Going Global stamp set is perfect for a man.  It has tons of great greetings that any man would love to hear.

The one I’m using today is actually something I say to my Prince.  (BTW- he was actually de-throned after the death of “Prince” and I told him he would just have to go by “my man” for a few weeks while I mourn.)  I do thank my lucky stars for him-REALLY.

The globe just speaks the man language.

Masculine, Stampin' Up!, Going Global

I love how this entire suite coordinates together with the designer paper, embossing folder and images within the set.  Perfect collection—  that is going away.  SO, if you love this collection of products don’t delay.  Get them today.

Tips & Tricks

Here are a couple of tips to create this card:

  • The Globe is embossed using Black Embossing powder then punched using the 2″ Circle punch.  That is matted onto a 2-1/2″ Circle punch (GASP- that’s retiring… no words)
  • The metal stars came from the You’re So Lovely kit.  *FAVORITE KIT!*
  • I tried this new diagonal cut that I’ve seen others doing and I love the stars peeking through the two diagonal cuts.  Kinda fun.

Masculine, Stampin' Up!, Going Global

Let’s Get Shakin’

Masculine, Stampin' Up!, Going Global

I don’t typically make shaker cards, however I had a cute little tub of gold star punches from a card I did LONG ago and they were calling my name to be used.  Then I thought how fun would it be to use the big dipper (or is it the little dipper?- Ah- I don’t know, it’s just cute!) and the gold stars together.  Reminded me of falling stars…. sigh.

Masculine, Stampin' Up!, Going Global

In all honesty, I think I overloaded the shaker but it’s really fun and there are lots of stars.  I kinda love that.

Tips & Tricks

  • All images are embossed using Black Embossing Powder.
  • I used a sponge dauber on the compass image to brighten up the cardstock in a few areas.
  • Create easy shaker cards using our Window Sheets (See link below).
  • The Confetti Star Punch makes perfect tiny stars for a shaker card.

Masculine, Stampin' Up!, Going Global

What made this shaker so much easier is the new addition of Foam Strips from Stampin’ Up!  Oh hello.  Thank you Stampin’ Up! These will be available in the new catalog June 1st.

Masculine, Stampin' Up!, Going Global

I think this looks pretty masculine… maybe minus the gems that I had to put on at the last minute.  I couldn’t stand it.  A little Rhinestone never hurt a man… I’m sure.

I hope you enjoyed what I shared today.  Now it’s time to hop along on the hop and see what the Creation Station Designers have in store for us.  Just click the NEXT and BACK buttons to hop along.
