Lemon Or Lime? You Choose!

Lemon Or Lime? You Choose!

When I started to create with the products for OnStage, I was a little stumped with the Lemon Builder Punch.  No lemon stamps so what in the world will I create??  After a little thought (or maybe a lot) I thought about my cocktail tree I have in my backyard. The tree is called a cocktail tree because it produces three types of Fruit: Lemons, Limes and Naval Oranges. It’s pretty impressive, and we have lemons and limes growing already.

I gathered some supplies and went to work.

Tips for a Simple Lemon Card

Starting off this card I think I was more excited to use the Lemon Lime Twist ink. Seriously, it’s my favorite ink color right now.

Here are some quick and easy tips for creating this card:

  • I used an Aqua Painter to brush over the center of the Watercolor Paper to get my paper nice and wet.  Then I go over the center again using the Aqua Painter loaded with Lemon Lime Twist ink.  When you have the surface of the Watercolor paper nice and wet, this makes the blending much easier.   I love how the ink moves beautifully over the paper by using this trick.
  • When I stamped the greeting from the Label Me Pretty stamp set I used Daffodil Delight cardstock and then used the Lemon Builder punch.  I punched the leaves of the lemon using the Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and added to the Lemon punched image using a Mini Glue Dot.

  • Another fun addition to this card is the Lemon Lime Twist 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon.  When I used this ribbon, I love how easy it is to fold, and my card is not bumpy at all.  I know this makes my mailing a bit easier and my postal lady happy.  I used a staple to keep it in place.  Super simple and fast.
  • Lastly, after I added the lemon image to my card with dimensionals, I used a new Sequin Assortment called Iridescent. Want to know my favorite part about these sequins? Look at the tiny sequin.  That made me squeal.  Not kidding.

Mix it Up!

One of the things I love being a display stamper is the challenge.  Like I said in the beginning, I didn’t have the coordinating stamp set for the Lemon Builder Punch.  I was left wide open to think outside of the box and create.  Don’t get me wrong; this can be scary at times. I mean really, what greeting would work with this lemon?

Interestingly enough, I thought the Label Me Pretty greeting, “You’re the Best” worked perfectly.  I think of making lemonade out of lemons… it’s simply the best! Right?

Consequently, I should tell you that my eyes spotted a fun lemon/lime stamp set in the new catalog.  It’s going to be one that I will use frequently!

Lemonade or Limeade?

After I had created the lemon card, I knew I needed to make a lime.  I’m not sure if lime’s looked much like this, but I have a great imagination, and I hope you do as well.

As I started this card I pulled out my Orange Blossom stamp set again and made a fun polka dot background using Lemon Lime Twist ink onto Whisper White.  Remember, the polka dot image is really an orange… imagination friends, imagination!

Tips & Tricks

Here are a couple of tricks to create this card. Remember, even if you do not have these stamps or punches, imagine the card with products you do have.  Think of my card as a sketch!

  • I layered a piece of Vellum Cardstock over the Whisper White card base.  I love how this looks on a card.  If you haven’t worked with Vellum, I strongly suggest trying it.  I have found that Stampin’ Up!’s Vellum cardstock has a perfect weight and it’s easy to use.
  • When adding a bow to the lime’s, I didn’t want anything bulky.  I started by taking a piece of Linen Thread and White Thick Bakers Twine and pulling apart some of the thread.  This made the bow nice and flat.  I love the mix of color, too.

  • Lastly, I used the new Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper to punch the lime’s from the Lemon Builder Punch.  The Eastern Palace DSP is SO beautiful.

Be Inspired!

You know the old saying, when life hands you lemons, make lemonade! While I definitely didn’t get handed lemons, starting this project was not easy.  I think I made a little lemonade and I’m excited how these projects turned out.

Label Me Pretty

Label Me Pretty

It’s day 5 of the Display Stamper blog hop and today I sharing a new stamp set called Label Me Pretty.  The Label Me Pretty stamp set has a coordinating punch called Pretty Label.  While this set has a coordinating punch,  I wanted to show you that other punches or dies work just as well with this stamp set.

I paired the Label Me Pretty stamp set with an annual catalog favorite of mine, Falling Flowers.  I loved all of the florals together and especially the framelits behind the greeting.

New Products

Some of my new favorite products I used on this card:

  • Label Me Pretty Stamp Set
  • Orange Blossom Stamp Set
  • Touches of Nature Elements (wood elements)
  • Berry Burst Cardstock & Ink
  • Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper
  • Lemon Lime Twist Ink

Tips & Tricks

Here are a few tips when creating this card.

  • To start this card I used Whisper White Thick Cardstock 4-1/4″ x 11″, then I added a 1″ strip of the beautiful gold chevron pattern from the Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.
  • I stamped the floral images onto Whisper White cardstock and then die cut using the May Flowers Framelits.  I love this die set! When stamping the florals, I used Old Olive, Daffodil delight and Berry Burst Classic Ink. Most noteworthy, I stamped the small flower in Daffodil Delight which comes from the Orange Blossom stamp set.  I added a small 1/4″x 5-1/2″ strip of Berry Burst cardstock was added to the very edge of the Whisper White card layer 3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″.
  • Instead of using the coordinating punch, I stamped the greeting onto Dapper Denim cardstock using Basic Black Archival ink and then used the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I stamped the greeting again, and fussy cut the banner and added it to the die cut using Mini Glue Dots.  I love how Mini Glue Dots add just enough dimension.
  • Lastly, I added Rhinestones around the focal image for a little bling.

Get Acquainted with Berry Burst

Get Acquainted with Berry Burst

Man o man!  Every single new InColor makes me happy! After water coloring with the new Berry Burst Classic Ink pad, I was amazed! It’s beautiful.  Berry Burst reminds me of a color we had years ago, Purely Pomegranate.  I’m so pumped to use these new colors, and I know you will be too.

Delicate Flowers from Orange Blossom Stamp Set

Berry Burst, OnStage Displays, Stampin' Up!, Orange Blossom

Today I’m sharing another card using the Orange Blossom stamp set.  I love the opportunities this stamp set provides with the many delicate flowers and even an orange. I’ll be telling you a funny story about that “orange” blossom stamp soon.

I loved the new products I was able to use on this card:

  • Orange Blossom Stamp Set
  • Touches of Nature Elements (wood elements)
  • Berry Burst Cardstock & Ink
  • White 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon

Tips & Tricks

Here are a few tips when creating this card:

  • I started this card using Berry Burst 4-1/4″ x 11″ for the card base.  Then I added the Powder Pink cardstock 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″  to the Berry Burst card base.
  • Next, I used Watercolor Paper and added a very light watercolor wash using Berry Burst Classic ink and my Aqua Painter.  Then I heat set the ink using my Heat Tool.  Once dry I went back over the first layer of watercolor with another layer of Berry Burst ink.  This time I went a little darker.
  • I added splatter to the card using my Aqua Painter with Berry Burst ink.   Create the splatter by tapping the Aqua Painter with a bone folder over the watercolor paper.

  • I stamped the florals onto Whisper White cardstock using Berry Burst and Old Olive inks and then stamped the greeting using Archival Basic Black Ink.  Once stamped, I die cut the image using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.
  • The floral wooden element was attached using Tombow Multipurpose Glue.  I added a bow using the new 1/8″ White Sheer Ribbon paired with Linen Thread.
  • One of my favorite things on this card is the lace border die cut.  This die cut is from the Flourish Thinlits.  This is carrying over into the new catalog, and I’m SUPER happy!

Add a Touch of Elegance!

To finish this card, I added two products that always add a touch of Elegance- Delicate Doilies, and Pearls.

I loved how this card turned out.  I’m not sure if it’s my love affair with the stamp set or the Berry Burst that drives that emotion, but either way, the card made me happy!

One More Sweet Project…

Berry Burst, OnStage Displays, Stampin' Up!, Orange Blossom

One of the other stamp sets I had the privilege to work with- Label Me Pretty.  This stamp set coordinates with a new fun punch called Pretty Label Punch.  Label Me Pretty not only has beautiful images, but gorgeous fonts used for the greetings.

I created this tag using the Perfect Mix stamp set in the Occasions Catalog on page 35.  This stamp set is retiring, so grab it fast if it’s one you love.

Take note of a few things on this card:

  • Crumb Cake 3/8″ Classic Weave Ribbon
  • Tranquil Tide Cardstock & Ink
  • Pretty Label Punch
