Lift Me Up-Artisan Blog Hop

Exciting blog hop today with the Artisan Team using the Lift Me Up Bundle.  I love hot air balloons and this set not only has beautiful balloon images, but it also has great greetings to go with it.

On Cloud Nine!

Lift Me Up Stamp Set, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

I’m definitely on cloud 9 with this card.  One of the tools I used to inspire me when creating this card was pattern paper.  The coordinating paper, Carried Away,  is filled with bright, beautiful colors.

The Carried Away Designer Paper Pack is FREE with a $50 purchase from any of our current Stampin’ Up! catalogs.  You can find this paper on page 7 of the Sale-a-Bration catalog.

I would have never paired these colors together on my own.  I love how we can be inspired by different pattern papers or by using the catalogs from Stampin’ Up!

Tips & Tricks

Lift Me Up Stamp Set, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

  • Die cut the clouds using Watercolor Paper and the Up & Away Thinlits Dies.  Once I die cut the clouds, I used Mint Macaron ink and my Aqua Painter to watercolor.
  • I created a unique background by die cutting four squares using the Stitched Shapes framelits and Carried Away Designer Series Paper.  Once these were die cut, I attached each of squares onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock using dimensionals.
  • Lastly, I created a fun look by die cutting the intricate balloon image from Whisper White cardstock.  After die cutting, I positioned the balloon onto Watermelon Wonder cardstock and die cut using Stitched Shapes largest circle die cut.

Using Subtle Tones

Lift Me Up Stamp Set, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

I decided to use more subtle tones for my second card still using the Carried Away Designer Series Paper.

Lift Me Up Stamp Set, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

Tips & Tricks

  • Crumb Cake cardstock is a perfect color to add with any of Stampin’ Up! coordinates with all colors.  I used White Craft Ink to stamp the balloon image.  Make sure the ink is completely dry before die cutting.
  • To create a rolled edge on the banner, wrap the cardstock around your Paper Piercing Tool.  To keep the cardstock in place, add a Mini Glue Dot to the end.
  • Create layers by using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Friends Across the Miles

Friends Across the Miles

While we might have friends across many miles, we can still bring a smile to their face.

The Lift Me Up stamp set from Stampin’ Up! came to my rescue!

Coordinating Products Together

One of my favorite things about Sale-a-Bration this year is how Stampin’ Up! created products in the Occasions Catalog that coordinates with a product in the Sale-a-Bration catalog.

This set is a great example.  The Lift Me Up Bundle comes with the Lift Me Up stamp set and the Up & Away Thinlits Dies.

On Page 7 of the Sale-a-Bration catalog, you will find the Carried Away Designer Series Paper.  When you purchase $50 in Stampin’ Up! products from my store, you can receive the Carried Away Designer Series Paper for FREE.

I used the Carried Away Designer Series Paper for this card as well I used the paper to inspire my color combination.

Tips & Tricks

  • The card base is Whisper White Thick cardstock 4-1/4 x 11.
  • Attach a piece of Carried Away Designer Series Paper (1-1/2″ x 5-1/2″)  onto the left side of the card base using adhesive.
  • Die cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock (3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″) using the large hot air balloon image.  Attach this to a piece of Carried Away Designer Series Paper (3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″).
  • The clouds were die cut from the Carried Away Designer Series Paper.
  • The greeting was stamped onto Smoky Slate cardstock and then die cut using the Tags & Labels Framelits.
  • Load your Aqua Painter with Night of Navy ink, then brush over the Delicate White Doily.  Heat set with Heat Tool to speed up the drying process.

That Balloon Get’s ME!

_MG_2304

Darn. It's the silly little hot air balloon. It gets me EVERY time. Do you own a stamp set with ONE image that just takes YOU in?   If it has a hot air balloon, I have to have it.  I love them.  The more vintage it looks the more I swoon over it.  Truth!

This is a new Hostess stamp set in the NEW catalog called Postage Collection.  I love that Stampin' Up! gives us the option to purchase 2 of these during our pre-order season.  This is a fantastic collection of images in this set.

In fact, there are bonus images.  Say what, Kimberly??

Do you see the itty bitty squares on the right of the card? These are the inside extra rubbah pieces from a stamp image in the set.  So you know how geometric shapes are a hot trend? DO NO THROW THESE AWAY.

I see many more cool cards made with just the tiny squares.  *LOVE*

Check out the new vintagie buttons—> real name is Very Vintage Designer Buttons. <in love sigh>

If you look close enough you can see the new Smoky Slate color.  I already was in love with the color Gray so this just makes me do cartwheels that we have a new shade of gray.

Stamp set: Postage Collection (New Hostess Set) Cardstock: Smoky Slate, Soft Sky, Crushed Curry Ink: Smoky Slate, VersaMark

Accessories:  Very Vintage Buttons (129327), Artisan Label (130920), 3/4" Circle punch (119873), Natural Trim (129287), Epic Day Washi Tape (131269), Soho Subway Designer Paper (130140), Basic Rhinestones, Tea Doily (129399), Stitched Satin Ribbon (126846)

Lastly, I have to share a proud Mama moment.  Hope you don't mind…

Lil man is now a First Class Scout.  So proud as he worked hard towards this.  HUGE accomplishment.  He loves Scouts.

Now to convince him the hair needs to be cut.  Something about this pre-teen thing where they do NOT like to shower or get a hair cut.  I may pencil this into his Scout Requirement book.  Jeesh!

Up, Up and Away!

It's an Up, Up and Away type a day. My little boy is on a jet plane today headed for Anaheim, CA for his big Robotics competition. He is SO excited and has been since the big announcement that he was going.

He has been so excited he couldn't even sit still in class and the teacher had to call me.  LOL.  I couldn't blame him as I would be just as excited.  He is all packed and ready to go.  He flys with the team tomorrow and then Russ will meet him on Wednesday. I'm a WRECK knowing that he is not with one of us.  It will be okay… it will be okay.

The big competition starts on Thursday.  It's a world competition which is one of the reasons he is so excited.  He can't wait to meet new friends.  Love that kid!

To add to the excitement I have one of my BFF's here visiting and we have been BUSY as bee's in my stamp room.  OH BOY!

Today we worked on a few projects and this is one of them.

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

The You're Amazing stamp set is one of my favorites from Stampin' Up!.  The images are some of my favorites and the hot air balloon is just perfect. When you add the World Spectacular DSP with the hot air balloons I'm super excited.

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

I started this card base with Whipser White and placed the Designer Series Paper at the bottom with a small strip of the ticket design at the top of that.  I used a few scallop die cuts and a 2 1/2" circle punch of Crumb Cake to add a little dimension to the card.

I placed a piece of the Canvas Creations across the 2 1/2" Circle punch.

*Tip*-  You can sponge over the Canvas Creations to a color of your choice.  Isn't this fantastic? I sponged Sahara Sand over my canvas.

I added a little burlap across my Canvas Creations.    Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

The last element that was F.U.N is the Bakers Twine.  I used four layers (yikes) and then tied a few knots to create the banner of twine across the card.  The little pennant banners across the twine are from the This and That Epic Day product line.  I attached these using my glue gun.

I’m Full of Hot Air!

Kimberly VAn Diepen stampin 'Up!

Okay, not ME but I'm in love with Hot Air Balloons.  My Prince is from a little town in Indianola, Iowa where Hot Air Balloons are HUGE.  I fell in love with seeing them when we would visit family.  One time a balloon landed in their front yard.  I was so excited like a little kid.  While I love how pretty they are I especially love a vintage looking balloon.

My love for the vintage balloon is the very reason why I love the stamp set You're Amazing.  All the images are beautiful but that balloon really stands out.

Kimberly Van Diepen Stampin Up!

Simple is a perfect description to put this card together! I simply used my World Spectacular Designer Paper and stamped directly onto it using Soft Suede, Island Indigo, and Sahara Sand.  Another great set that compliments You're Amazing is the Blue Ribbon Stamp set.  It's one of my FAVORITES and really, NO Graduate needed.  This set lends itself very useful for MANY occasions.

Tip: Change up how you place buttons onto your projects.  Try new tying techniques like I displayed on this particular card.  Simply tie your Bakers Twine in the back and let the tails hang.  Keep the button in place using a Mini Glue Dot.
