All New! July Tutorial Release

July Tutorial Release

Tutorial Bundle Blog Hop, Stampin' Up!

It’s that time again! It’s an all new July tutorial from the Tutorial Bundle design team.

This month the tutorial is filled with beautiful projects using products from the new annual catalog.  Each month we collaborate to do a blog hop using the stamp set or bundle that we used for our tutorial project.  I like to think of this as an extra bonus.  Are you ready to be inspired?

July Sneak Peek

July Tutorial, Stampin' Up!

Get a load of this fun sneak peek of the July Tutorial.  SO many great stamp sets and projects.  I love the diversity from this team and how we each bring something special to each of the projects.

Each tutorial has step by step instructions for easy duplication of the projects.  You will find both cards and 3D projects in each of the tutorials.

Oh So Eclectic

July Tutorial Release, Stampin' Up!

I instantly fell in love with the Oh So Eclectic bundle because of the gorgeous combination of the stamp set and Framelits.

July Tutorial Release, Stampin' Up!

WOW! Look at this amazing bundle!

I decided to use a fun color combination that I’ve had in my head for awhile, Lemon Lime Twist and Basic Gray.  I love how these two colors look together.

July Tutorial Release, Stampin' Up!

Create It!

Below you will find tips to create today’s card.

  • I always start with a 4-1/4″ x 11 card base using Whisper White Thick cardstock.  The first cardstock layer is Lemon Lime Twist 4″ x 5-1/2″.
  • My first stamped layer is Whisper White 3-3/4″ x 5-1/4″.  I stamped the two flowers using Lemon Lime Twist and Basic Gray.  I added spatter over the stamped flowers using an Aqua Painter loaded with Lemon Lime Twist Ink and Basic Gray Ink.
  • You will need two pieces of Basic Gray cardstock cut at 4-1/4″ x 2-1/2″. The first layer I die cut using the open flower framelit.  After die cutting, I layered this onto the remaining Basic Gray cardstock using Tombow Multipurpose Glue.
  • Before attaching the Basic Gray cardstock, I layered a small piece of a Delicate White Doily,  Whisper White 3/8″ Classic Weave Ribbon and Whisper White Bakers Twine.  I attached the layers using a staple to keep in place.
  • I stamped the greeting onto a small scrap of Basic Gray cardstock using Basic Black ink.  The greeting was die cut using the Layering Squares Framelits Dies by using the smallest scallop square in the die set.
  • Lastly, I added Rhinestones for a little extra bling.  I love how it all came together.

Bunch of Blossoms

Bunch of Blossoms

Yesterday I finally felt “caught” up with tons of work that has been sitting in front of me.  I looked at my desk and had a sudden urge to stamp something just for ME! Thankfully, I ended up pulling out the perfect stamp set, Bunch of Blossoms.

I fell in love with the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set for many reasons, but there is one reason inparticular.  It’s a simple greeting but one I believe has a ton of impact. Let me share.

You Matter

Bunch of Blossoms, Stampin' Up!

You might be wondering, why would this little greeting be such a big deal?

Every morning I sit with a hot cup of coffee scrolling through my social media.   The more I scroll through social media I see more and more how little I think of myself and how little I love on the ones that matter most to me.  This greeting created such an impact for me because it made me think of how many times I become “busy” and forget to reach out to friends and family that really matter to me.

Fakebook Drama

I’m fascinated by the “drama” on Fakebook, and perplexed at what I see on Instagram.  I find myself scrolling and hitting the like, or love button. At times I’ve had emotions that felt like a roller coaster.  Hurt, angry, happy, depressed, laughing, belly laughing, and times I scratch my head thinking what is WRONG with people.  Then silence… and I’m trolling to the next thing.  This repeats for long periods of times.  A little embarrassing to admit, but it’s the truth.

Inadequate Feelings

That scrolling, liking, loving, laughing and sad faces… sometimes I walk away from that little piece of electronic in my hand and feel utterly inadequate.  Let me tell you that I’m quick to give myself a reality check, but I’m afraid one day I may fall into the trap of not seeing reality.

Why would I feel inadequate?

In one simple morning of scrolling, I was reminded of…

  • How horrible I eat and how little exercise I accomplish.
  • I might be a hoarder with the amount of crap I see laying around my house
  • I’m a horrible parent because I let my kid do something someone else thinks is wrong
  • My FOMO disease kicked in. (Fear of Missing Out)
  • Comparing my business to others- complete failure at times
  • Oh, and I probably shouldn’t fly any airline because they are all awful

This was not even the tip of the iceberg!

Let’s Talk Reality

While some of the above might be true, 95% are NOT. Although my house is a wreck and I hate exercising, the others are feelings that arise from reading too much into what people post. Thankfully, I can shake myself out of the crazy talk and remind myself that I am not all of those things nor do I believe all of those things.  The reality is, I live a fantastic life filled with a lot of joy. Sometimes I cannot see the joy because of the silly stuff I fill my brain with.  I also deal with a lot of life struggles, because that is LIFE! Life is messy, right?

With all the negative I feed my brain, I needed a big wake up call to the fact that I matter and so do you! Not everything I read on social media is factual.  Sometimes I wonder why I have anxiety.  I believe it comes from social media.  Reading the doomsday, life sucks and comparing myself to others quickly triggers it.  The scariest thing for me, my teenagers live for social media.  No telling what they are feeding their own minds with. That scares me big time.

What Now?

I guess the easiest solution would be to walk away from social media, but the realist in me says that probably will not happen. Obviously, I can’t save the social media world, but I can love people more.  I can let others know more often they matter and I’m lucky enough to have the perfect job that lets me create pretty things to send to others and let them know they matter. You can do the same.

Bunch of Blossoms, Stampin' Up!

Create!

All that talk finally leads me back to my card.  The card that got me thinking about myself and those of YOU reading this.  It’s the gentle reminder to let people know they matter.  Put down the phones, and create. Create a simple card and mail it.

Bunch of Blossoms, Stampin' Up!

I feel better already!

If I haven’t told you lately, I’m grateful that you stopped by to see something pretty and especially today as I share a few thoughts (maybe more).  Sometimes I have to get these things off my chest.  Today was one of those days.

If you love this stamp set, Bunch of Blossoms.. check it out HERE in my Online Store.

That is where you will find all kinds of crafty pretty things that bring crafty people JOY!

Stay tuned for tomorrow.  I’m sharing a MAN card!  Sometimes I forget to make something masculine.

Special Reason For Special People!

Special Reason For Special People!

Special Reason, Stampin' Up!

Although I never need a special reason to stamp with friends, every month I do get an extra special reason to stamp with a group of ladies I love.  My stamp club meets once a month at my home, and it’s always so exciting to have them.  To hear them laugh and enjoy the company of friends all while stamping is so good for the soul.

This month at stamp club I was excited to use a stamp set I had not used, Special Reason.  After I had created the project and cut all of the supplies, I found out this was a stunning bundle, and it was sold out.

At first, I wanted to cry. I loved how the card turned out and wanted my stampers to create it.  The thought of changing the project crossed my mind, but then I said no way.  We went ahead with the project, and I added another project to their list of cards to create.

Tips & Tricks

Here are a few tips when creating this card.

  • I stamped the flowers using Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride ink.  The leaves were stamped using Pear Pizzaz.
  • I used the largest flower from the Stylish Stems Framelits Dies on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cut the flower in the center.  To add color to the flower, I used a 3 x 3 piece of Watercolor Paper, then watercolored the paper using Calypso Coral.  To create dimension, I placed dimensionals on the back of the Whisper White cardstock.
  • There is two label dies in this framelit set.  I die cut both of the labels, then attached them together to create a faux embossed look.  The greeting was stamped onto the smallest label.

Special Reason, Stampin' Up!

  • Lastly, I added pearls and splatter to the card front.  I also added dew drops by taking my Fine-Tip Glue pen and dropping small dots of the glue randomly around the flowers.  I set this piece to the side until the drops dried on their own.

Surprise on the Inside

One thing I’m typically not good at is stamping the inside of a card.  Not the case for this card.  The greeting I used for this card was meant for a surprise on the inside.  I love how it turned out.

Special Reason, Stampin' Up!

I stamped the flowers using Blushing Bride ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4″ x 5-1/4″.  The greeting was stamped using the Archival Basic Black ink.

While I’m disappointed this stamp set and framelits are no longer available, I can see why.  This set has beautiful floral images and greetings.

I’m sure many of you have this stamp set, and if anything I have inspired you to create another card using it.  If you do not have this set, the design itself can be duplicated with the many floral sets Stampin’ Up! does have available.

You can see a list of the products I used for this card in the clickable links below.

Glimpse of the OnStage Displays

Glimpse of the OnStage Displays

OnStage Display Stamping, Stampin' Up!

One of the best things about going to OnStage are the beautiful displays that you can see using the new product.  There is one problem, however.  OnStage locals are happening all over the world.  There are display stampers ALL over the world which means we can’t see all of the beautiful displays.    Over the next week or so, I’m going to be sharing my OnStage displays along with the Artisans who were display stampers.

Orange Blossom

OnStage Display Stamping, Stampin' Up!

I wanted to use the beautiful Orange Blossom stamp set with the new Lemon Lime Twist In Color.  In typical Kimberly fashion, my first glimpse of the new colors I’m not overjoyed.  Then I stamp with the colors, and I fall in love.  The Lemon Lime Twist has me smitten.  Already I can think of many color combinations.

You will notice a few new products used for this card.

  • Eastern Palace Designer Specialty Paper
  • Lemon Lime Twist Classic Ink
  • 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon
  • Iridescent Sequin Assortment

Beautiful Color Combinations

Below is the color combination I used for today’s card.  I love how the blues and yellows provide a fresh look and especially fun for spring and summer.

Tips & Tricks

A few tips when creating this card.

  • The greeting was stamped onto a piece of Dapper Denim Cardstock and then die cut using the Window Box Thinlits Dies.  There is a special little thinlit within the dies that cuts a beautiful banner.
  • Using my sewing machine, I created a straight stitch across the banner and ribbon to keep in place. I also added a small piece of a Delicate White Doily under the ribbon.

OnStage Display Stamping, Stampin' Up!

  • The flowers were stamped onto Whisper White cardstock 4″ x 5-1/2″ using Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party inks.  This gave me a small space to add a 1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of designer series paper along the edge of the card for a little pop of color.
  • The new sequins are perfection.  Why do I love them so much? Look at the different sizes of the sequins.  Look at the tiny little sequin.  This makes my heart pitter patter.  They have a nice iridescent look you will love.

Much More OnStage Displays To Come

OnStage Display Stamping, Stampin' Up!

Be ready to see many more displays and ideas to inspire you.  The best part is being able to see all of the beautiful designs up close and from around the world at the different OnStage events.  SO stinking exciting.

Tips & Tricks

Here are a few tips & tricks when creating this card:

  • I stamped the flower onto Pool Party cardstock using Archival Basic Black ink. Next, heat set the ink so you can watercolor right away.  I used my Aqua Painter with Pool Party ink and watercolored the petals.  I love how this brightens the flower, and if you look closely, you can see that the flower looks watercolored.
  • Once the watercolor was dry, I used the Wink of Stella pen over the petals.  Now there is a beautiful sparkle over the flower.
  • Whisper White Thick cardstock 4-1/4″ x 11″ was used for the card base.  Score at 5-1/2″.  The Crumb Cake cardstock is 3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″.
  • I placed a small piece of Pool Party cardstock 1″ x 5-1/2″ alongside the Crumb Cake cardstock to add contrast to the colors.

Tutorial Bundle Hop, So In Love Bundle, Stampin' Up!

  • Add elegance to your projects using the So Detailed Thinlits Dies.  I love how this die cut wraps around the Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • The final detail for this card uses the White Perfect Accents.  I love these embellishments as they are inexpensive and easy to apply.  It’s a fine detail I love to see on a card.
