Shimmer & Pizzaz

May Tutorial Bundle Blog Hop

One of the things I’ve been using a lot with the Eastern Palace Bundle is the Shimmer White Cardstock.  I love how this cardstock looks when you watercolor.

Once I added the Lemon Lime Twist Ink watercolored over the medallion, it was love at first sight.  The picture never does Shimmer paper any justice because you cannot see the shimmer in the photo.  I promise it’s shimmery and beautiful.

Tips & Tricks

Here are a few tips when creating this card:

  • I created the medallion by stacking the largest circle from the Layering Circles Framelits along with the Eastern Medallion Thinlits Dies using Shimmer White Cardstock.  The Eastern Medallion dies stack so beautifully together.  I also die cut another large layering circle using Whisper White cardstock.
  • Once I watercolored the medallion using my Aqua Painter and Lemon Lime Twist Ink, I layered it over the Circle die cut.  I found using a sponge dauber with Tombow Multipurpose glue to be most effective to keep the medallion adhered to the Whisper White cardstock.  I simply placed a small dab of the glue onto a sponge dauber, then dabbed over the back of the medallion.  It worked like a charm.
  • To keep the label with the greeting in place along with the twine, I used a staple.

  • Creating the card front I stamped the 3 main circle images along with the star design in the center of each circle.  I love how the Fresh Fig, Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist Ink coordinate together.
  • Lastly, don’t forget to add a little pizzaz to your medallion by using the Basic Rhinestones.  I love how this created attention to this intricate medallion.

I’ve been able to create lots of great cards using this suite already, and I can tell you I’m totally wowed by the many ways to use the thinlits, stamp images, Acrylic Stickers and beautiful pattern papers.

So how can you get a hold of this great suite? It’s available now in my Online Store HERE.

I want it!

Eastern Palace Suite, Stampin' Up!

There are a few ways to purchase this suite, let me explain.

There are two bundles to choose from.  The Starter Bundle and the Premier Bundle.

First, you can click HERE to view the PDF with the two bundles that are available for purchase now. The PDF will show you what is included in this suite.

You might be thinking, “Why would I buy this now Kimberly when I can buy this in the new catalog in June or later?”

If you are like me, I love when I can save money!  Well, Russ enjoys it more when I save us money, but that’s the point in buying the bundles now because you can save money! Plus there are free gifts that you receive when you buy the bundles this month.

The bundles are only available until the end of May.

The card I’m sharing today is just one of the many I’ve created with this bundle. I’m super excited to share more this week.

Resources Available!

Probably what I’m most excited about are the two resources I have available to you.  When you purchase either of the bundles through my online store, you will receive TWO tutorials PACKED with ideas.  Actually, it’s a total of 39 card and box ideas.  12 of the projects are exclusive… you will not see them on the internet anywhere.  I love that.

My first tutorial I created is filled with 27 project ideas with photos and step by step instructions with ONLY the products from the bundle used. The cards are beautiful and I love that this tutorial gets you stamping with your new products right away.

PLUS, I have a tip sheet when using this suite to help you get started right away.

My second tutorial has 12 projects both card and boxes that are stepped up projects.  This is part of a tutorial share I do with 11 other demonstrators that are AMAZING.

Both of these tutorials are available for FREE when you purchase the Eastern Palace Suite from my online store.

Return of Glossy Paper

OnStage Display Stamping, Stampin' Up!

Return of Glossy Paper

The return of glossy paper in the Stampin’ Up! catalog is going to make many paper crafters happy.  While it’s been a long time since I used Glossy Paper, I felt accomplished remembering a few techniques.

I think having this paper on hand again will help both customers and demonstrators enjoy more stamping techniques that only work with this type of paper.

Working with Glossy Paper

Like I said, it’s been awhile since I had worked with Glossy Paper.  I started with the very basic technique I remembered… re-inkers.  Long ago one of my favorite techniques was called Polished Stone.  The basics of this technique involves re-inkers, a sponge, Rubbing Alcohol and a metallic re-inker.

Since I didn’t have a metallic re-inker on hand, I kept it even more basic and used all of the above supplies except for the metallic.

Grab Your Supplies

To create the background of this card, grab the following supplies:

  • Bermuda Bay, Dapper Denim re-inkers and Lemon Lime Twist Classic Ink Pad.
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Sponge

Return of Glossy Paper, OnStage Display, Stampin' Up!

When I created this background I wanted to add the Lemon Lime Twist ink but did not have the re-inker.  I simply added color to my sponge from the Lemon Lime Twist ink pad and then added a few drops of Bermuda Bay and Dapper Denim Re-inkers to the sponge.

Once I added all of the ink to the sponge I added the Rubbing Alcohol to the sponge.   Then swirl the sponge around the Glossy Paper to see the different inks move together.  Something to note, I was very generous with the ink. This made the inks have a fun swirly look.  If I wasn’t achieving the effect, I added a little more rubbing alcohol.

Once you have added the ink, you will want to let the paper dry.  Because I’m impatient, I carefully heated with my heat tool.  The paper did curl a little bit, but once I layered it onto the Whisper White Thick cardstock it was fine.

Finishing the Card

Return of Glossy Paper, OnStage Display, Stampin' Up!

  • Now that my background was finished and layered onto the card base, it was time to finish the card.  I added a piece of the new Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper along with a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.
  • The greeting was stamped from the Label Me Pretty stamp set.  I then die cut the image using Stitched Shapes framelits and layered this onto a piece of Dapper Denim cardstock punched from the Pretty Label punch.
  • I added a few stitches from my sewing machine over the Lemon Lime Twist 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon and a Delicate White Doily.
