Fun With Tasty Trucks Stamp Set

Tasty Trucks Stamp Set

Creating with the Tasty Trucks stamp set has not only been fun, but super creative.

This FREE sale-a-Bration stamp set is one you will enjoy the abundance of stamping opportunities.

I’ve seen this little truck turn into adorable options such as an ambulance, UPS truck and even a postal truck.

Of course, I’m always pretty simple when it comes to using this set but I have a few ideas I wanted to share.

Four Cards To Inspire You

Tasty Trucks, Stampin' Up!, Sale-a-bration

While you have many foodie images to choose from I fell in love with the cupcake image.  Maybe it’s because I would be giddy if a cupcake truck was found in my area.  Can you imagine? A girl can dream.

Taco Tuesday

Another favorite with this truck is the tacos.  Taco Tuesday is a BIG deal in my house.  Seriously, my kids can change their attitude in a heartbeat if I say it’s Taco Tuesday.

Tasty Trucks, Stampin' Up!, Sale-a-bration

I paired this image with one of my favorite pattern papers, Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper. The images in this paper are a perfect match for any Taco Truck.

This card will be perfect to give one of my kids a little kick in the pants when they are feeling gloomy.

I love the look of generation stamping and the different color hues you can see the more times you continue to stamp.

That is exactly how I created this card below using the congratulations image with the Tasty Trucks stamp set.

The fonts in this set are simple and perfect in size to create small thin banners.

Playful Patterns

Lastly, I wanted a card that was really playful and I love how you can achieve this look using our Designer Series Paper.

This card and the congratulations card above both use a FREE Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-Bration products called Carried Away.  This paper has an array of beautiful bold colors to use for your projects.

Peekaboo Peach is a new InColor that I haven’t used enough.  I love how this looks watercolored and it’s perfect for spring paper crafting. I will definitely be pulling this color more for my spring projects.

Tips & Tricks

  • Watercoloring the truck after stamping the image onto Watercolor paper provided the best way to color this image because of the size.
  • Fussy cutting the truck gave me the ability to add the truck as another layer onto the card.
  • The taco truck awning was paper pieced using the Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper.

Happy Stamper, Custom Tee stamp set, Stampin' Up!

Today Alexis turns 14.  I can’t even believe it.  Where has the time gone?

This weekend she will compete in her first gymnastics meet of the competitive season.  We are heading to Knoxville, TN.  I love traveling with her and perhaps she might be my favorite shopping partner.

Although she’s growing up fast I know this time I get to spend with her one on one is precious.  I am savoring every single second.

Wish her luck this weekend, and say a prayer for me because I have a hard time watching. I’m that mom!!

Happy Tuesday friends and hopefully you are a happy stamper!

Vintage Fonts Always Rock My World

Vintage Fonts Always Rock My World

I can look through the entire Stampin’ Up! catalogs and *think* I’ve seen it all.  Then all of a sudden I see something that pops off the catalog page.  Then I see a vintage font and it completely rocks my world.

This is exactly what happened when I stumbled upon the Super Duper stamp set in the Occasions catalog.  Fonts sweet fonts, how I love thee.

A simple “YAY” had me singing…  YAY!

Vintage Fonts, Stampin' Up!, Super Duper stamp set

What Do You Look For?

I’m curious what creates that love affair when you see a stamp set you can’t live without? Could it be images? Design? Fonts? Greetings?

As I was creating this card using the Super Duper stamp set, I knew right away how I wanted to use the YAY greeting.  In fact, several ideas started popping in my head. I know it’s going to be a great stamp set when the ideas keep coming.

Vintage Fonts, Stampin' Up!, Super Duper stamp set

Instantly I was drawn to this color combination.  It’s one of my favorites to use.

I love how the Cucumber Crush and Bermuda Bay brightens the entire card.  Typically I don’t reach for the bright ink colors, but this color combination is a winner every single time.

Create It!

The one thing to keep in mind when creating this card is the little bit of fussy cutting for the focal area.  The good news, the fussy cutting is super duper easy.  <giggle…. I made a funny!>

Vintage Fonts, Stampin' Up!, Super Duper stamp set

  • The card base uses Whisper White Thick cardstock – 4-1/4″ x 11.
  • Dapper Denim cardstock (4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″) was stamped using the YAY greeting with Dapper Denim ink.
  • Stamp the star image using Pool Party ink onto Pool Party cardstock 3/4″ x 4-1/4″.
  • Stamp the greeting “super duper” onto Whisper White cardstock twice, once using Cucumber Crush ink, and once more using Cucumber Crush ink.  Fussy cut both images, pop up the super duper greeting using a dimensional.
  • Attach a Delicate White Doily to the back of the greeting.  Attach to the Pool Party cardstock using Fast Fuse.
  • Add Metallic Silver Enamel Dots to the card.
  • Add a little color splash using an Aqua Painter and Dapper Denim ink.

Congratulations On a Winning Monday!

Congratulations On a Winning Monday!

Typically Monday is one of my favorite days of the week.

I’m sure most people are the complete opposite of me, but Mondays  mean a FRESH start for me.

On a typical Monday I jump out of bed all happy pants and ready to face the day.

Today I should have stayed in bed.

While today was frustrating to say the least, there is humor weaved throughout the day.  I even made myself laugh hysterically at one point.

My goal today is that if you are someone who is having a bad day… this will make you smile and feel better about yourself.

If your new to my website… it’s just one of those random days I write on a more personal level.  Don’t be scared.

And OF COURSE I have a card to share… a congratulations card. More on this card at the end of the post.

Congratulations, Stampin' Up!

Morning Rituals

In our home the Prince gets Brandon off to school each morning and I get up with Alexis to see her off to school.  Basically I have the late shift.  Russ has to get up at the crack of dawn with Brandon…. that is not my cup of tea.

This morning I took a longer snoozie and noticed that my house was unusually quiet.  I decided to check on Alexis.  This is where the day starts to go downhill.

Alexis was still in the bed and had 5 minutes to get ready for school.

The daughter I know was not who jumped out of bed in a panic.

She screamed.  “WHAT? I’m late???”  She looked like a crazy person. Kinda frightening.

Honestly I was kinda scared.  I decided to let her pull herself together while I grabbed coffee.

A few minutes later she comes to me with tears flowing.  The drama was magical.  I’m pretty sure she has been taking acting on the side without me knowing it.  This was not my girl. She normally has it all together.

After a little mama pep talk I told her to get herself together… it’s not the end of the world that she would be late.  All will be okay.

Remembering Your Own Advice

As I drove Alexis to school I wanted to remind her that just because she woke up late, don’t let this ruin the rest of her day.  As she walked into the school building she turned to me, smiled and waved.  Total attitude change.

Honestly, I felt a little puffed up.  Kinda like a moment of “super mom.”  I had given her great advice this morning.  It was time to really get my awesome Monday started.

I decided to run a few errands before heading home.  Simple things like returning an expired  1/2 gallon of creamer that I bought on Saturday.  Evidently 10 other women decided to do their returns at the same time of day.  Really?  I never realized so much happened that early in the morning.

As I opened the back hatch of my car to put my groceries in, there in the back corner was the fresh sweet tea I had purchased on Saturday.  The one I looked everywhere for.  Now its sour and in the trash.

Creative in the Kitchen

Getting creative in the kitchen is not my happy place.  The entire process is overwhelming to me unless I’m making something I really enjoy.

I decided on a Tortilla soup that the entire family loves.  It was only 1030 in the morning and I had dinner on track.  This is HUGE. Seriously, it never happens. This Monday was definitely on track for #winning!

I continued to work and let my soup simmer.  The house smelled so good.

Work was a disaster.  Anything I touched was breaking.  The printer jammed, the paper I was cutting was completely wrong and to top off this day… the card I tried to create was going no where.    No biggie because this happens, right?

Moving on…

Retirement Blues

Russ was in the living room watching something on the TV and while waltzing past the TV I got sucked in.  45 minutes passed, the show ends and I had a complete hissy fit.

Wish I was kidding.

I was so mad at myself.  My list of to-do’s is long.   There I sat on the couch sucked into some stupid TV show.  Typically I never watch TV.  Nothing!!

I’m struggling with our new routines.  Actually,  I’m struggling with HIS routine.   For 20 years he went to work….  Now he’s home 24/7, watching TV and lots of other things….   and sometimes I’m watching TV with him.

I could write a novel on the hissy fit, but the scaled down version is I felt awful for feeling the way I do.  It’s just a HUGE adjustment.  Working at home takes discipline. Something I’ve had for long time… until now it seems.

I Don’t Remember Adding These Bits To My Soup!

After getting over my hissy fit, apologizing to Russ and getting all of that off my chest… it was time to check on my soup and add some other ingredients.

As I was getting ready to add my extra ingredients, I noticed something floating in my soup… lots of them.

Congratulations, Stampin' Up!

After further investigating, there was an extra protein that I did not intend to be in my soup- BUGS!

At this point I was freaking frantic.  Where did these come from?  Oh my word.

Ya’ll! HOW and WHERE?  I’m almost speechless.

The only thing it could have come from was one of the spices I used… YEP!

Sure enough I opened the Chili Powder and there they were.

I know…  disgusting.

Needless to say the soup was dumped.  I cried.  Then I gave myself the same pep talk I gave my daughter this morning.  Don’t let this ruin your day Kimberly…. then I laughed so hard I cried again.

My entire dinner in the trash…

As This Day is Ending…

It definitely hasn’t been the best day, but it’s not been the worst day either.

Obviously the family will eat something like hot dogs or PB&J. Nothing out of the ordinary to be truthful.

I will try not to feel overwhelmed by the laundry that is sitting in my bedroom waiting to be folded and tackle that problem tomorrow.  Along with cleaning out my spice cabinet.  YAY!

I will be kind to my Prince…

I’ll think about all of this tomorrow and pray that next Monday I’m back to my happy pants again.

Back to the Bird…

The stamp set Best Birds is one of my favorites.  Timeless set that you can use forever!

If you are a brand new stamper, this stamp set is a perfect set to start with.

  • You can color the images using markers and a Blender Pen.
  • The images can be fussy cut if you do not have the Big Shot (highly recommend the Big Shot!)
  • Greetings for many different occasions.

Congratulations, Stampin' Up!

Little Known Ways to Embellish a Card

Embellish Cards with Ease

Do you struggle with applying embellishments to your cards?

Today we are going to look at little known ways to apply embellishments.

What I Call Embellishments

Sometimes we can be quick to think that embellishments are particular products.

For instance, my brain instantly thinks of the following products when I hear the word embellishments

  • ribbon
  • buttons
  • enamel dots
  • twine
  • doilies (let’s face it… I can’t live without these!)

While these are all my favorites and used frequently, I have a few others that I love and use more and possibly not thought of as embellishments.

  • paper – YES! SO many great ways to use paper as an embellishment
  • staples – I use them ALL the time.
  • die cuts
  • punches

Embellishing Can Be Simple

Embellish, Biggest Birthday Ever, Stampin' Up!

If you are a new stamper these little tips will help you when creating.  I remember when I first started stamping the one thing I didn’t have a lot of on hand was embellishments.

One of the things I learned early was to use paper to embellish.  Adding layers is simple with cardstock and even better when you can add texture to the cardstock and incorporate the layers.

Cardstock Banners

Banners are one of my go to favorites.  I love the many ways you can create a banner with a simple strip of cardstock.  I can fold it, create a “v” on the ends of them and even staple it where it needs to go.

Embellish, Biggest Birthday Ever, Stampin' Up!

Die cuts are another great way to embellish.  Die cuts can add texture to any project and depending on the die cut or framelit you use, it will add layering.

Embellish, Biggest Birthday Ever, Stampin' Up!

The Wish Big Framelits were perfect for this as each little piece added another layer of frosting, a cherry and even different slices to the big ole cake.

Embellish, Biggest Birthday Ever, Stampin' Up!

Don’t forget that a doily can add the perfect touch to a card.  Another favorite is the Texture Impressions Embossing Folders.  The Polka Dots are an all time favorite because it coordinates with so many things.  It’s definitely a WIN WIN.

Another Cardstock Use- Double It!

Embellish, Biggest Birthday Ever, Stampin' Up!

Adding layers can be as simple as using a double mat on a card.  I love to use a double mat of the same color which gives the card beautiful dimension.

You might be thinking…. what a waste of paper.

Here is my thought, and granite it’s only my opinion… paper or cardstock is one of the cheapest embellishments we have and provides the dimension so easily.

Think of doubling the cardstock on your die cuts.

Embellish, Biggest Birthday Ever, Stampin' Up!

For this card if you look at the star you will notice that is not a single piece of cardstock.  The star was layered three times.

First I’ll tell you this was due to a mistake I had made.  Yep.  It’s one of those times a mistake turned into a treasure.

By triple layering the die cut it gives great dimension and makes the star appear like a thick embellishment.  SIMPLE addition and fun.

Embellish, Biggest Birthday Ever, Stampin' Up!

Adding twine behind the star along with a doily again not only adds a fun way to embellish the card but it also added simple embellishments.

Remember, a staple not only holds your pieces together but you can also color them quickly with a sharpie to accent them.

Using a stapler has been one of my favorite tools and definitely adds ease to creating for this lazy stamper that I am.

Really.. I am.

Embellish, Biggest Birthday Ever, Stampin' Up!

Biggest Birthday Ever Made Simple

Today’s cards use the Biggest Birthday Ever stamp set.  I also shared two cards on Friday using this set HERE.  My goal in sharing this stamp set was for a few reasons:

  • Versatility- Biggest Birthday Ever stamp set doesn’t have to be ALL birthday.  You can use the stars for a baby card or tell anyone they are a super star on other days besides a birthday.  You can create clouds, or and ice cream cone… the ideas are endless.
  • Show how you can use the framelits as embellishments.
  • Share simple everyday embellishments

Quick Tip

One of my FAVORITE embellishments to play with right now is the 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon.  When you pull the threads on this burlap you are left with a very nice workable twine.  This is the twine I have been using ALL the time.  I love our Linen Thread, but this has a thickness just a smidge more than Linen Thread provides.  Try it.  You will see how easily this twine is to wrap and play with.

Embellish, Biggest Birthday Ever, Stampin' Up!

Your Turn To Create

I challenge you today to embellish your cards using cardstock.  Try a banner, or fold one end of the banner to create a unique look.  Take a framelit and triple stack to create dimension.

The journey of embellishing begins with trying.  Try something new and fun to add a little uniqueness to a card.
