Be Happy and Celebrate

Be Happy and Celebrate

Are you filled with happiness? Is there something you want to celebrate? Today I’m all about being happy and celebrating the little things.  I’m happy to share with the artisans today, and I’m especially glad that I was able to get time to stamp.

While my time as a mama has kept me from my stamp room the past few weeks I celebrate the tiny gaps of time, I can stamp. It makes my heart happy!

Today, be inspired by the artisan team.  Let us celebrate the little things.

Happy Celebrations

Today I’m sharing a few cards using the Happy Celebrations stamp set.  I love the word art in this stamp set.  Plus, I am in love with the coordinating Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, Celebrations Duo.  If you heard a loud squeal, it was me!  I embossed my first piece and let out a big SQUEAL! Oh my word, they are FANTASTIC!

Happy, Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Happy Celebrations

The deep impression that the Celebrations Duo creates is great.  Even better is when you add a little watercolor to the embossed area.  HOLY MOLY!

Happy, Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Happy Celebrations

Here’s the thing, when I applied the watercolored ink over the embossed area I put it on very wet.  I love how the ink pooled and created a shadow around the letters on its own.

Tips & Tricks

  • I cut the 5/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon in half to create a thinner piece.  You will notice that the ribbon started to unravel, but this created such a fun look.
  • The Celebrations Duo Embossing Folder looks fantastic on Watercolor paper as I used on this card.
  • I created an Ombre on the watercolor paper using Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, and Watermelon Wonder inks.

So Very Happy

I realize I’ve been pretty absent from my usual blogging.  I have so much to tell you and promise to let you in on the happiness soon.

My next card made me giggle with joy.  It describes how I’m feeling lately.  Although I’ve been pretty overwhelmed with “things” happening, the happy meter has been high. Being happy is a great thing, and I think I will frame this card as a reminder of the days my happy meter is low.

Happy, Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Happy Celebrations

Tips & Tricks

  • I stamped the word happy onto Watercolor paper using Archival Basic Black ink.  Then I watercolored over the entire image using Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, and Watermelon Wonder inks.  Then I fussy cut the letters.
  • I used the “Happy” from the Celebrations Duo Embossing Folders on Whisper White cardstock.  I then stacked the words over, so there was a whole lot of happy coming from this card.
  • The polka dots were stamped using Calypso Coral and stamped off once before stamping on the Whisper White cardstock.
  • I used the leftover ribbon from the last card to add to this card.
  • Look closely, and you can see I watercolored my Delicate White Doily to Calypso Coral.  Boy, can this make you happy quick?  Isn’t it wonderful we can make these doilies ANY color we want???  YES!

Celebrate Your Happiness

Happy, Celebrate, Stampin' Up!, Happy Celebrations

I don’t know about you, but many times I have to remind myself of all the goodness that surrounds me.  I can quickly get caught up in a lot of negative Nellie stuff.  It’s not healthy.  Let’s remind us to put on our happy pants and spread that happiness to others.

Now be inspired and HAPPY by seeing what the other artisans are sharing today.  If anything, find a little time to create, and I’m quite sure you will find happiness.

Birthday Bonanza-Creation Station

Birthday Bonanza

I’m so excited about my birthday bonanza projects I’m sharing today.  I love the Party Animal Suite and have 3 projects to share.

Get ready for a great blog hop with the Creation Station team with inspiring birthday projects today!

Birthday Bonanza, Creation Station, Stampin' Up!

Are You a Party Animal?

No doubt I love a good party, and while I’m not so much the party animal, I’m all about having fun.

I do love celebrating birthday’s and funny enough Russ, and I called my uncle on Friday to wish him a happy birthday.  We both struggle with remembering someone’s big day.   As soon as he picked up the phone, we were singing happy birthday.  Unfortunately, we were about five days too early.  Whoops! We all laughed, and we’ll be making the phone call again next week.

The Party Animal Suite is perfect for any age and so many great coordinating products to choose from.

Birthday Bonanza, Creation Station, Stampin' Up!

I pulled out one my favorite cardstock colors, Crumb Cake.  I love how Whisper White Craft ink looks on this cardstock.

Then I pulled some of the colors from the Party Animal Designer Series Papers.

Tips & Tricks

  • One of my favorite coordinating products in this suite is the Washi Tape.  I love the SKINNY tape.  This was perfect to place along the edge of the card base.
  • Whisper White Craft ink is a pigment ink which takes a little longer to dry.  I use the heat tool to make the drying times faster when I’m impatient.
  • The Confetti Textured Impressions Embossing Folder was a perfect addition to this card.

The Perfect Box

Birthday Bonanza, Creation Station, Stampin' Up!

Excuse me; I’m a little giddy over this box.  It’s perfect for a birthday bonanza! The colors, ribbon, banner and a peek of doily fit perfectly together.

Birthday Bonanza, Creation Station, Stampin' Up!

You can find the Window Box Thinlits Dies on page 43 in the new Occasions catalog.  I love this box for it’s unique design.

Tips & Tricks

  •  The box was created using Kraft Cardstock.  Kraft cardstock is a fantastic heavy cardstock that keeps shape when creating boxes.  I love the weight of this cardstock, especially when creating boxes.
  • The Party Animal Designer Series Paper was used to create the belly band around the box.
  • I added the Gold 1/4″ Natural Trim with a flowing tail on each side of the box.  I love the small glimmer of gold in this beautiful ribbon.

YAY, Time to Celebrate!

Because of my love for vintage and fonts, I am completely drawn to the Super Duper stamp set.  I love the marquee look to the fonts and it was perfect for this next card.

Birthday Bonanza, Creation Station, Stampin' Up!

Once again, I relied on my Party Animal Designer Series Paper to pull my color combinations together.  These bright colors are beautiful together.

Birthday Bonanza, Creation Station, Stampin' Up!

Tips & Tricks

  • The ribbons were folded like an accordion, then stapled to the Designer Series Paper to keep in place.
  • While I used the coordinating inks with the cardstock (Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango) don’t forget you can get a similar look using a VersaMark pad.  The tone on tone looks beautiful!
  • I couldn’t get away without using a doily.  I found a perfect place…

Challenging Your Creativity, Do You?

Challenging Your Creativity, Do You?

This week I’ve been talking about getting my crafty mojo back.  I’m still there so bare with me.

Sometimes it takes longer than I’d like, and that is the reality.

Artisan Blog Hop!

Today the Artisans are sharing their work and this is always inspirational to me and definitely a lift when you have creative block.

For me and my project…. well, I’m not going to lie.  It’s not my favorite project I’ve ever made.  This was truly a challenge and one that ended up in the garbage a few times only to be saved and played with more.

Challenging, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

Here is the deal…

In my box of love I received from Stampin’ Up!,  I had this gorgeous ribbon- 1″ Stitched Watermelon Wonder Satin Ribbon.

There is no doubt it’s beautiful.  Kimberly just didn’t know what to do with it.  I had this ribbon going all sorts of ways on my card. This was challenging my creativity like you wouldn’t believe.

But wait…. there is more.

I also challenged myself with Cucumber Crush cardstock and ink.  This color is a really tough one for me.  Do you have a color that is really tough for you to work with?

Challenging, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

Let it Go….

There came a time when I was creating this I finally said…..  LET IT GO and be done with it.  I did just that.

Challenging, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

Here is what I love……

I can’t deny I love these balloons and love them stamped on Crumb Cake cardstock.  I also love Linen Thread hanging from them.

AND…. I also love that bright Cucumber Crush peeking out from the Crumb Cake cardstock. Giggle.  Want to know another thing….

Cucumber Crush is growing on me.  Everywhere I look I see this color.

This time next year I might be crying my eyes out over this color leaving the In Color collection.  That would be something to really giggle over.

Challenging, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

Lesson Learned…..

I learned that it’s okay to not love every project I create and don’t give up on it or myself.

Friends, I hope that you know creative block is REAL and all crafters go through it.  Sometimes it can go away quickly.  Sometimes it takes longer.  There is no doubt we have an abundance of resources to gain inspiration from.  That’s the beautiful thing about this community.  We can be inspired in so many ways.  We need to let that inspiration soak in and let our own inspiration flow when it’s ready.

If you are looking for a challenge… Try out these colors below.  I left out the Crumb Cake because it’s a neutral color.  It goes with anything.  Try it with Whisper White.  Or Basic Black.

You can see all the products I used for this card in the clickable links below.

Be Inspired….

Go ahead and grab your favorite drink and be inspired by the other Artisans.  These women blow me away with their creative flare and the ideas they come up with.  Up next on the hop is Krista.  Not only does she inspire me as a crafter, I love her fun crazy personality and especially watching her from a far with her 3 kids.  Her personality shines through everything she does.  Just click the button below and enjoy a little creativity.

Are You Bringing Birthday’s Back?

Are You Bringing Birthday’s Back?

Bringing birthday’s back is a huge movement throughout the Stampin’ Up! community all started by one rockin’ employee, Shannon West.  I’m excited today to share a few birthday cards that hopefully inspire you to send a few yourself.

It’s also a fun day to share with my Creation Station crew and be inspired by others with their versions of birthday projects.

Bringing Birthdays Back, Stampin' Up!

What is bringing birthdays back?

How many times have I commented right here about the lack of sending cards?

One of the reasons I seriously lacked in the birthday card department was based on my wasted  special time on Facebook.  It was so easy to wish someone a birthday, and so easy to not send a card.  I felt like I accomplished my task of “birthday wishes” by just sending them a birthday wish on Facebook.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing feeling to get the birthday wishes on Facebook.  BUT… it’s even more special when you can get a birthday card in the mail.

  • it’s fun to open
  • you know the person took time to make it especially for you
  • you are reminded of your special day for as long as you keep that special card around.

Be Inspired!

There is no doubt this new Occasions catalog has catered to the birthdays. Let me share a fun card I created that was QUITE the challenge.

Bringing Birthday Back, Stampin' Up!

Why would this card be a challenge? It boiled down to one color- Cucumber Crush.  It’s a very popular color everywhere.  Seriously… I see it EVERYWHERE.

Bringing Birthday Back, Stampin' Up!

I decided to pull out one of my Decorative Masks and I loved how the two different tones made that Cucumber Crush cardstock stand out.  Best part- it was simple.

Bringing Birthdays Back, Stampin' Up!

The little white you see on the polka dots was created using my White Chalk Pen.

Bringing Birthdays Back, Stampin' Up!

The balloons were placed onto my work station and then I added a Mini Glue Dot behind the balloon to create a big bunch of balloons.

The Happy Birthday greeting came from the Cottage Greetings stamp set.  It was a perfect fit for my Lots of Labels framelits.  Don’t forget to stamp your envelope pretty too.

Don’t forget this Gem!

While the new Occasions catalog has an abundance of great birthday stamp sets, don’t forget about the main Idea Book & Catalog and the abundance it has to offer as well.

Bringing Birthday Back, Stampin' Up!

If you open your Idea Book & Catalog I want to share with you a VERY special stamp set that tends to get missed.  It’s the cutest ever and can make a HUGE difference in MANY ways.

Sprinkles of Life

Bringing Birthdays Back, Stampin' Up!

This adorable set is our Ronald McDonald House Charities set.  Every set sold $3 goes to the Ronald McDonald House!  YAY!  This set covers birthdays, Thank You’s and Love.  All of which can be used ALL year round.

Bringing Birthday Back, Stampin' Up!

My two favorites about this stamp set:

  • Coordinates with the Tree Builder Punch to make the ice cream or cloud.
  • The small greetings make for tiny banners.

Bringing Birthday Back, Stampin' Up!

You can see above that I made this banner wrap under the ice cream cone.  Quick and easy to do.

Bringing Birthdays Back, Stampin' Up!

Bringing Birthdays Back, Stampin' Up!

Once again, don’t forget to stamp your envelope.  Adds a little special something to it.

Wrapping it up!

I hope you will take part in the Bringing Birthdays Back movement and help make a difference.  I think this is something HUGE and as papercrafters who make beautiful cards, they need to be seen and bring a smile to others.

You can find ALL the supplies I used for both cards at the end of the post in the clickable links.

Now, be inspired by other crafters and see what birthday madness they have created.

Flowers and Celebrations

Flowers and Celebrations

I stamped flowers and I’m celebrating.

Honestly, I’m really celebrating that we survived the horrible weather yesterday.

Small town Pensacola has seen some particularly bad weather over the last 2 weeks.

Two weeks in a row tornadoes have come through our town.  Truly unheard of.

From the last weather report I heard 4 tornadoes touched down in our area.  We are fine and no damage that I can see around me.

Interestingly enough the tornado formed off the beach near us.  Then once on land it basically broke apart only to reform further inland.

Scary night and I’m glad it’s passed.

Let’s Stamp….

I pulled out my Flowering Fields stamp set and the Fabulous Four set for the greeting.  I love how this card turned out.

Flowers, Flowering Fields, Stampin' Up!

I love this one particular flower in the Flowering Fields stamp set and had this idea to stamp across the Whisper White and then have a stamped Vellum overlay.

My choices for greetings were pretty wide open since there are no greetings in the Flowering Fields stamp set.  I wanted something big enough to stretch over the flowers and Fabulous Four worked out perfect.

Create It!

Flowers, Flowering Fields, Stampin' Up!

To create this card-

  • I stamped the flower across the Whisper White cardstock (2-3/4 x 4-3/4) Using Delightful Dijon Ink.
  • I stamped the greeting across Vellum Cardstock (1-3/4 x 4-3/4) using VersaMark ink and embossed using Black Embossing Powder.
  • I added 1/2 of a Gold Foil Doily under a small strip of Typeset DSP (4-1/2″ long) that I folded in half and tucked the Gold doily inside the fold.
  • To keep the layers in place I stapled them together.
  • Adhere a piece of Wildflower Fields DSP (3/4 x 5-1/2) across a piece of Whisper White cardstock (5-1/2 x 8-1/2).
  • Attach a piece of Burlap Ribbon 3-3/4″ across the Wildflower Fields DSP using Multipurpose Tombow Glue (works the best with this burlap).
  • Attach stamped flowers over the ribbon and DSP using dimensionals.
  • Attach sequins using Fine-Tip Glue Pen

Tips & Tricks

Flowers, Flowering Fields, Stampin' Up!

  • I cut the burlap ribbon in half so it wasn’t as wide.  I also like the look of a rough edge.  Feels vintage.
  • The sequins I used come from a Project Life Accessory Pack.  I’ve said before that I love these sequins because they are larger than our normal ones and the colors are awesome.
  • Folding the Typeset DSP created a fun way to tuck the Gold Foil Doily snug between the layers.
  • Flowering Fields is a FREE stamp set that you can choose from the Sale-a-Bration catalog when you spend $50 in merchandise.

Flowers, Flowering Fields, Stampin' Up!

I love vellum and I love how it helps soften any project.  I love how you can see the flowers through the vellum on this card.
