Cupcakes & Carousels-Be Inspired

Cupcakes & Carousels

Cupcakes & Carousels, Stampin' Up!, Carousel Birthday

I love cupcakes and carousels, so what better way to start out the day than with cupcake & carousel overload.

I have more birthday inspiration to share with you from the Be Inspired Design team.  You probably just came from Carolynn’s blog, and her project was exquisite.

Now be inspired by a few more cards and projects using the Cupcakes & Carousels Suite.  I can’t get enough of it this week!

Mix it Up!

Cupcakes & Carousels, Stampin' Up!, Carousel Birthday

Many of you know my love for mixing stamp sets especially if I fall in love with a particular font.

To create this card, I chose to use the big top tent image along with a greeting from Big on Birthdays stamp set.

Cupcakes & Carousels, Stampin' Up!, Carousel Birthday

I re-created the card above only this time I changed out the color combination.

Tips & Tricks

  • To create the star die cut, I placed two-star framelits together to create a frame using Bermuda Bay and So Saffron cardstock.
  • Each card used a strip of the Party Animal Designer Washi Tape on the right side of the card base (Whisper White 4-1/4″ x 11).
  • The happy birthday greeting comes from the Big on Birthdays stamp set (page 6-Occasions Catalog).

Layer Designer Series Paper

Cupcakes & Carousels, Stampin' Up!, Carousel Birthday

One of the reasons I love Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Papers is for the coordinating colors within the packs.  Not only does it take the guess work out of which colors to use, but it’s also seamless to layer different patterns together from one pack.  Plus we know that all of the colors match.

Layering colors and patterns from the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer, Series Paper Stack was effortless because the patterns and colors coordinated.

The Cupcakes & Carousels paper stack comes with 48 Sheets of 12 double-sided designs. This paper stack is 6 x 6 and only $10!  Totally WORTH it.

Notice the banner in the top right corner of the card? The Bunch of Banners Framelits has a tiny banner perfect for creating a fun element such as the one on this card.

Amazing Birthday | Stampin’ Up!

Amazing Birthday | Stampin’ Up!

I think all birthday’s should be categorized as Amazing Birthday’s since we made it another year.  Don’t you? Each time my birthday rolls around I thank God for giving me that new year.

June is a crazy birthday month for our family.  Both my parents and my brother all have birthday’s in June so I’ll be busy making birthday cards for them.

One of my new favorite stamp sets for birthday celebrations (and SO much more) is the Amazing Birthday stamp set.  There is GOOD NEWS about this stamp set.  It’s one of the first I’ve seen that can be used for other things outside of birthdays making it much more versatile.

Amazing Birthday stamp set, Stampin' Up!

I started this card using the new Large Polka Dot embossing folder.  There was a squeal when I used this.  I love polka dots and the larger the better.  I used a sponge dauber to darken some of the polka dots.

I stamped the focal image a couple of times in different ink colors so I could cut a few of the images out to pop them up on the original.

I love how Early Espresso, Coastal Cabana and Crumb Cake looked together.

Another fun trick for this card was using the Burlap ribbon with my Large Scallop Edgelit to create a scallop border. This was so easy and fun to create.

I added a little sewing to keep the ribbons in place and sewed this across the embossed banner.

Meanwhile, make today RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING!!  I sure do love you guys for taking the time to read my stories.

P.S.  Our house is finally sickness FREE.  Everyone is on the mend and happy.

BIG NEWS…… Tuesday (tomorrow) Russ goes for his driving evaluation to see if he is ready to get behind the wheel.  Can you please pray about this? He feels ready.  This would give him more independence.  We are hopeful.

XOXOXOXO

Make a BIG Wish!

Who doesn’t like to make a BIG wish?

I always tell my kids ” Wish Big” when it’s their birthdays or when they talk about the 9 million fun things they want.  Really, it feels like 9 million things some days.

Now that Sale-a-Bration is over I’m going back to focusing on sets in the Occasions Mini and sets from the Catalog I haven’t used as of yet.

The Stamp set Big Wish is a very playful stamp set and because of it’s solid stamp images it’s perfect for quick birthday cards.

As I was getting ready to stamp with this set I had a BIG IDEA!!

Make a Big Wish, Stampin' Up!

You know I have a love affair with Vellum right now from this post.  Stampin’ Up! made my love affair even greater with the Fancy Foil Designer Vellum.

The big idea was making the cake cover on stamped vellum.  The first cake image I stamped was embossed with Gold and then I stamped the macaroons with Coastal Cabana ink.   I embossed the cake cover in Gold embossing powder and then cut this out. To attach the vellum piece I delicately placed Tombow glue on the scalloped edge and at the very top of the cake cover.

I loved how the macaroons look soft through the vellum.  Make a Big Wish, Stampin' Up!

I added three pieces of ribbon for this card and just tucked the ends around the Brushed Gold cardstock.  I love how these ribbons give the card a delicate feel.

I know we’ve discussed this before, are you using your vellum? Don’t miss out on this great product.  Stampin’ Up!’s cardstock vellum is nice and thick and the best in my book.

Ready to recreate this quick card? You can find all the products I used for this card in the links below.

Are you new to using Stampin’ Up! Vellum? Here is a video I created last year when using our Cardstock Vellum:

He’s 12!

My little boy turns 12 today! Time sure does fly by. It's CRAZY to see how much he's changed in just 4 years. While some of his sweet looks have matured, there are some things that haven't changed.  You can see in the picture he has food all over his face… at 12 years old… that hasn't changed.  To be honest, I'm glad.  I may think differently when I'm showing you his dirty face at age 21.

Yes, that's a snake he is holding.  He loves any kind of animals.  Loves to catch them and then they become his pets.  I'm fine until this.. SNAKES.

Anyways, it's his birthday. I'm having a hard time knowing this is the last of his child days… the pre-teen is already hitting.  You know where they think they know EVERYTHING.  Yes, it's here. But that's okay. I still hug and kiss this sweet boy in the mornings before school. Sing to him at night and tell him how much I love him to the moon and back.  He's 12,  but always will be my baby.

He also shares a birthday with my Father in law.  How cool is that?

I made them each a card using the Open Sea stamp set.  It's a beautiful set and I love the World image.  I used our new In Color Baked Brown Sugar. It's so yummy sounding and a beautiful brown.  Very "cardboard" looking. I love it.  _MG_2313

I also used a new Designer Series Paper called SoHo Subway. *NEW FAVORITE* You will see lots of it from me.  I also used a new hostess set called Express Yourself. Love the words and this was perfect for this card. _MG_2314

If you haven't used your Open Sea stamp set in awhile pull it out and dust it.  It's a beautiful stamp set.  Perfect for Summer cards too.

Stamp set: Open Sea (123032), Express Yourself  Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar Ink: Baked Brown Sugar

Accessories:   Linen Thread (104199), 7/16" Natural Trim Ribbon (129287), Natural Buttons (127554), 1 3/4" Circle Punch (119850), Soho Subway DSP

Time for me to go and celebrate more of this great kid.  Besides… it's HIS day! He's 12!

It’s the Bomb Diggity

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

So excited here!  I cleaned up my big ole mess in my stamp room and found room to create.  Even better it was with NEW stuff.

We have a new Photopolymer stamp set- Bomb's Away #133411

This set has great fonts and perfect to add a little humor to the big birthday celebration.

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' up!

The fun began with this card when I pulled out my This and That Epic Day Stickers.  I added them to the card base first and then started layering from there.

*TIP* The sticker "For the Record" is popped up on dimensionals.  I took a little baby powder and sprinkled it on the sticky back to make it so it WASN'T sticky anymore. Works like a charm!

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

How fun that I can fit the "Holla" and "Epic" stickers inside the Chevron Embossed piece.  *LOVE*

I'm on a doily binge so this card had to have one.  I just can't seem to step away from them.  They just make the card delicate.

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

I stamped the images using Sahara Sand ink and sponged very lightly around each.

Look closely… you may see a returning color on this card!

Confession… I hoard paper! I had a piece of Bermuda Bay textured cardstock in a "stash" that I pulled out.  What a happy day it is!!
