Birthday Delivery-Artisan Blog Hop

Birthday Delivery

What an exciting day this is.  Not only is it an Artisan Blog Hop but today the new catalog goes live at noon Mountain Time.

I have an extensive list of stamping goodies I’m ready to mark off my wish list and get them into my hands.

Finally today, I was able to sit down and use one of the sets from my pre-order called Birthday Delivery.  I love how sweet and vintage this stamp set looks.  It’s from the Birthday Memories Suite and one of the new bundles you can purchase starting today.

Watercoloring on Crumb Cake Cardstock

When I started creating this card I pulled out all of the beautiful patterns from the coordinating suite, Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper.  Instantly my eyes went to the crumb cake background and the sweet little chef.  This was the key piece that inspired me to create this card.

I started with a fun technique I love to use from time to time-watercoloring on Crumb Cake cardstock.

Here are a few tips when coloring the chef:

  • I stamped the chef image using Archival Basic Black ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock.  I like to let the Archival ink dry for a few minutes or heat set using a Heat Tool.
  • Whisper White Craft ink created the perfect muted white background I was trying to achieve for the chef coat and hat.
  • I colored the remainder of the images using Pacific Point, Crushed Curry and Real Red inks.
  • Something I have found useful when coloring on regular cardstock with my Aqua Painter is to load the pen with a light coat of ink.  This way I don’t have too much water over the image making blending easier and less pilling of the paper.

Birthday Friends Framelits Dies

Birthday Delivery, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

One of my favorite things about this bundle besides the adorable images is the coordinating framelits. One of the big reasons I’m drawn to the framelits is the size of the images along with how many of the framelits fit perfectly over the Designer Series Paper.

Normally I find myself very frugile when I use designer paper, but I love how each of the pieces in this pack of paper coordinates so well, making my layering attempts so easy.

You can see how each of the layers coordinate together and I’ve added a few dimensionals to create depth for this project.

Oh So Succulent

Oh So Succulent, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

Oh So Succulent

Welcome to another Artisan Blog Hop! Be inspired by the Oh So Succulent bundle.

I was reflecting back on this stamp set and how long I’ve been using it and how many fun projects I’ve created with it.  In fact, this stamp set is hands down the one I used the most from the Occasions Catalog.

I was able to start using this stamp set back in October of 2016.  I started using it for the last November OnStage for my display samples.  The irony of this stamp set,  I had no idea at that time this stamp set had matching framelits.  When I was creating samples for the November OnStage, I hand cut each of the succulents.  It didn’t matter at the time because I fell in love with the stamp set.

The Power of the Sponge Dauber

Oh So Succulent, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

The Sponge Dauber has become one of my favorite tools to use with the Oh So Succulent stamp set.  When I researched the colors of different succulents, I noticed many had a variation of color.  Honestly, I was taken back by the many shades of colors I found of succulents.  Some were vivid with color and others very neutral.

For my card today I wanted a blend of colors.  The best way to get a combination of colors is to use a Sponge Dauber.

Tips & Tricks

You might be asking why I would use a Sponge Dauber over our regular stamping sponges? I found that the Sponge Dauber was a smaller sponge that gave me more control when blending colors.

  • I created the variation of color by taking my Sponge Dauber and adding the lightest shade of ink first.  The first color I added was Mint Macaron.  I sponged over the entire flower, then added shades of Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and lastly, Rich Razzleberry.  I applied this technique with only two of the larger flowers.
  • To create the circle, I  die cut Watercolor Paper using the largest of the Stitched Framelits.  After die cutting, I applied a layer of Pool Party ink, then Mint Macaron.  The Watercolor Paper was layered onto a Delicate White Doily.

  • Lastly, I stamped the Happy Birthday onto Basic Black cardstock using VersaMark ink, then embossed with White Embossing Powder.  I love the pop of black to make the greeting stand out.  Once my focal area was complete I layered the circle die cut onto layers of the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper.
  • One last embellishment added was sequins and enamel dots.  I love how these add texture to a project, and the card isn’t too lumpy, bumpy.

The Bouquet of Succulents

Have you ever created a card where you need to tell yourself just to STOP?

This next card I had to mentally tell myself to WALK AWAY! Kimberly, seriously, WALK AWAY!

I couldn’t help myself because I love these flowers. To be fair, succulents are pretty darn trendy right now.  Take a peek at your local plant nurseries, and you will see tons of succulents.

Tips & Tricks

As I was creating this card, I started with a Whisper White cardstock and started stamping different flowers with different shades of color.  Once the flowers were cut, I started building my bouquet.

  • After I stamped and die cut my flowers I brushed many of them using the Wink of Stella Clear pen.  This gave the succulents a nice shimmer.
  • The two larger succulents were created using a Sponge Dauber as I explained in the card above.

Oh So Succulent, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

  • A few of the colors I used to stamp the flowers include Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry, and Pear Pizzaz.  Remember, there are many shades of succulents.  You can do a quick search on the internet to find the different shades of colors for succulents.

Have an AWESOME day!!

Christmas in July

Christmas in July

Christmas? One of my favorite holidays… but not in July.

Right now I’m thinking about beach, sun, pool…. and ice cold drinks.  It’s HOT here in the Florida Panhandle.

BUT… It’s never to late to chat about Christmas projects.  If we can get a head start then we won’t be scrambling as it get’s closer.  I could only WISH that I would be ahead of the game, but let’s be serious- this is Kimberly.  She’s never ahead and always scrambling.

Artisans Christmas

Today the Artisans are sharing a ton of Christmas LOVE. I hope you are ready.  Grab your drink of choice and let’s get started.

Peace This Christmas

I couldn’t think of anything better we need at Christmas- PEACE!  The Peace This Christmas stamp set has beautiful artwork, greetings and a few border images that will be fun to use on projects.

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

The Christmas Suite on page 26 of the Idea Book & Catalog showcases all of the great products that coordinates with this stamp set.  The Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper is one of my favorites.

This year the music paper has no words, which opens up the options for you to use besides a Christmas project.

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

The focal area of my card was created using the Designer Paper. Time permitted and I decided to fussy cut the intricate details.  The greeting comes from the stamp set Oh, What Fun.  A fun stamp set perfect for creating tags, cards or to use on gift packaging.

Gift Tags or Sweet 3 x 3 Cards

They are the same card, 3 different colors pulled from the Christmas Specialty paper– Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Early Espresso.

The Details

  • Delicate White Doilies at the bottom of the scallop add to the delicate touch of this card.
  • Metallic Enamel Shapes as well as the Regal Enamel Shapes add the perfect embellishment on this little project.
  • A new favorite you will find is the 1/4″ Natural Trim with a speck of gold running through it.  Fine details, yet so fun.
  • Layering Squares Framelits fit the stamp greeting perfectly and the tiny scallops around the edge added to the detail.

Tiny Gift Packaging

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

The Clear Tiny Treat Boxes will be the perfect party favor or an awesome little treat.  Either way you use it, the clear packaging makes it fun and colorful depending on the inside.

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

Wrapped up inside my little treat box holds the perfect little holiday Glamper ornament.  If you heard a squeal, it was me.  Cute + Glamper = Happiness.

The outside belly band was wrapped with the music pattern from This Christmas Specialty Paper.  The tiny berry die cut was cut using the Flourish Thinlits.

You know I love layers and this little piece was fun to build.  Ribbon, die cuts, doilies, and a greeting.  Perfection all wrapped up into the tiniest little giftie.  I love it.
