Artisan Inspiration- Frosted Medallions

Artisan Inspiration

The Artisan Team has a special line up of inspiration today.

The Artisan team is winding down from a fantastic year of sharing our projects with YOU.

I could go on and on how this team has been so AMAZING, but I’ll save that for another day when I can get really sappy with you. I know, I know… you can barely wait.  Ha Ha Ha.

Quick Update

I’m back from a whirlwind trip to the Western Caribbean.  Oh my!  What an amazing trip with my best friends!

The highlight of my trip was many, but this picture below could sum it all up!  I’ll be sharing more pics soon.

Frosted Medallions, Kimberly Van Diepen

This was in Roatan, Honduras on a private beach.  The day was beautiful, but the fun was these crazy monkeys.  I have never been this close to a monkey- EVAH.  This was a memorable moment and made me smile the ENTIRE day!

Let’s Stamp!

Today I’m sharing another set that was jumping out of my stamp cabinet to be used- Frosted Medallions.

Both of the cards I’m sharing were tough cookies to photograph with all of the white.

Frosted Medallions, Stampin' Up!, Artisan

I have to admit that New Year cards are might be the least occasion I create cards for.  Not sure why?

I do love the beautiful fonts in the Frosted Medallion stamp set and of course the gorgeous snowflakes.

Ha, I actually love stamps with snowflakes now that I’m in Florida.  Its the only type of snowflake I see.

Create It!

When I started creating this card I was instantly drawn to the colors Black, White and Silver.

I couldn’t help but grab the beautiful snowflake pattern paper from the This Christmas Designer Series Speciality Paper. It’s GORGEOUS and this is just ONE pattern I love.  This paper pack also has the beloved music notes.  It’s beautiful.

Tips & Tricks

  • Card base is Whisper White Thick cardstock (4-1/4″ x 11″).  A small strip of Silver Glimmer Paper (1″ x 5-1/2″) is attached on the far right side.
  • Fancy Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper (4″ x 5-1/2″).  Add a small strip of Basic Black cardstock (1/4″ x 5-1/2″) to the right side.  Adhere to card base using Dimensionals.
  • Add the This Christmas strip (1-3/4″ x 4-1/4″) across the Fancy Frost DSP.
  • Stamp the Happy New Year greeting at the bottom of the Whisper White cardstock (2-1/2″ x 4-1/4″) using Basic Black ink.
  • Stamp the snowflakes using Basic Black ink, then emboss using Clear Embossing Powder.
  • Wrap Basic Black twine along with the Silver thread.  Add two Jingle Bells by threading them using the Silver Thread.  Tie securely into place then add another knot just below the bells.  Trim ends.  Add a small piece of the Silver Glitter Ribbon and staple into place.
  • Attach a doily behind the Whisper White cardstock then attach to card front using dimensionals.
  • Add sequins to finish the card.

Big Big Snowflakes!

This card definitely was NOT easy to photograph, hopefully you can see the gorgeous white embossed snowflakes from the Frosted Medallion stamp set.

It could be my aging eyes….

Frosted Medallions, Stampin' Up!, Artisan

I love the white on white look and how elegant the snowflakes look embossed.

Frosted Medallions, Stampin' Up!, Artisan

The colors remind me of a beautiful snowy day…. but with a touch of elegance.  I love the Silver Glimmer Paper added with the Silver Glitter Ribbon.  Just brings it all together.

See all the products used for both projects in the clickable links below.

The last little bit that I added was the Christmas Trinket embellishment to the Glitter Ribbon.  This was a simple task using a sewing needle and the Silver Thread.  Once attached I tied the thread in bow.

Tip: Double the thread will make it easier to tie the bow.  It’s a very very thin thread.

Wrapping it Up!

The Frosted Medallion stamp set is perfect for winter cards or New Year’s.  Truly a beautiful set with gorgeous snowflakes.

The Frosted Medallion has a beautiful suite of other products that coordinate.  Make sure to check it out HERE.

Forgive Me, I Can’t Stop! Jar of Haunts

Jar of Haunts

Forgive me because I can’t stop.  The Jar of Haunts has been one of my favorite Halloween stamp sets!

I put the stamp set on the shelf.  I told myself it was time to move on.

What happened?

Well, it was time for an Artisan blog hop and I couldn’t help to pull out this cute stamp set.

Cute Always Gets Me!

The fact is, if something is cute I’m going to love it.

Jar of Haunts cute factor sold me right away.

xJar of Haunts, Stampin' Up!

Now if you add in the Pool Party to this entire Halloween mix… I have now hit the edge of Halloween glory.

Jar of Haunts, Stampin' Up!

Jar of Haunts, Stampin' Up!

Tips & Tricks

  • Start coloring of the jars with a blender pen.  When blending color on Whisper White with a Blender Pen, be careful not to blend the pen in one area for too long.  This will create what I love to call “paper boogers!” The paper will begin to peel.
  • To create  brighter color after using a blender pen, try taking a Sponge Dauber and sponge lightly over images.
  • The Everyday Jar Framelits coordinates perfectly with the Jar of Haunts stamp set.

Nothing Haunted Here!

Jar of Haunts, Stampin' Up!

There was nothing haunted about this next card.  The pumpkins were stamped onto Watercolor Paper, then watercolored using an Aqua Painter.

Jar of Haunts, Stampin' Up!

The pumpkins were masked to give the illusion of the pumpkins stacked to gather.

Tips & Tricks

  • To achieve the look of the pumpkins stacked together, stamp a pumpkin onto a post in note.  Cut around the image as close as possible.
  • Stamp one pumpkin onto Watercolor Paper.  When stamping the next pumpkin, apply mask over first pumpkin.  Now stamp the pumpkin next to the first one.  Do you see how the pumpkin you just stamped looks like its behind the other?
  • Watercolor the pumpkins using Pumpkin Pie ink first.  Then watercolor using Tangerine Tango around the edges to darken the color.
  • Watercolor the sky using Soft Sky ink.

Christmas in July

Christmas in July

Christmas? One of my favorite holidays… but not in July.

Right now I’m thinking about beach, sun, pool…. and ice cold drinks.  It’s HOT here in the Florida Panhandle.

BUT… It’s never to late to chat about Christmas projects.  If we can get a head start then we won’t be scrambling as it get’s closer.  I could only WISH that I would be ahead of the game, but let’s be serious- this is Kimberly.  She’s never ahead and always scrambling.

Artisans Christmas

Today the Artisans are sharing a ton of Christmas LOVE. I hope you are ready.  Grab your drink of choice and let’s get started.

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

Peace This Christmas

I couldn’t think of anything better we need at Christmas- PEACE!  The Peace This Christmas stamp set has beautiful artwork, greetings and a few border images that will be fun to use on projects.

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

The Christmas Suite on page 26 of the Idea Book & Catalog showcases all of the great products that coordinates with this stamp set.  The Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper is one of my favorites.

This year the music paper has no words, which opens up the options for you to use besides a Christmas project.

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

The focal area of my card was created using the Designer Paper. Time permitted and I decided to fussy cut the intricate details.  The greeting comes from the stamp set Oh, What Fun.  A fun stamp set perfect for creating tags, cards or to use on gift packaging.

Gift Tags or Sweet 3 x 3 Cards

They are the same card, 3 different colors pulled from the Christmas Specialty paper– Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Early Espresso.

The Details

  • Delicate White Doilies at the bottom of the scallop add to the delicate touch of this card.
  • Metallic Enamel Shapes as well as the Regal Enamel Shapes add the perfect embellishment on this little project.
  • A new favorite you will find is the 1/4″ Natural Trim with a speck of gold running through it.  Fine details, yet so fun.
  • Layering Squares Framelits fit the stamp greeting perfectly and the tiny scallops around the edge added to the detail.

Tiny Gift Packaging

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

The Clear Tiny Treat Boxes will be the perfect party favor or an awesome little treat.  Either way you use it, the clear packaging makes it fun and colorful depending on the inside.

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

Wrapped up inside my little treat box holds the perfect little holiday Glamper ornament.  If you heard a squeal, it was me.  Cute + Glamper = Happiness.

The outside belly band was wrapped with the music pattern from This Christmas Specialty Paper.  The tiny berry die cut was cut using the Flourish Thinlits.

You know I love layers and this little piece was fun to build.  Ribbon, die cuts, doilies, and a greeting.  Perfection all wrapped up into the tiniest little giftie.  I love it.

Circle of Spring- Magical Moment!

Circle of Spring- Magical Moment!

I just had a magical moment with my Circle of Spring stamp set and I’m super excited that I can share it with all of you.

It’s also an Artisan Blog Hop day which makes this a double bonus.  We should all break out in dancing and cheer now. Really!

I was going through my Artisan box of love that came in the mail and trying to figure out what I would use to create for this hop and when you aren’t feeling the creativity it can be a little overwhelming to know what to pull and create with.

Down deep in my box was the stamp set Circle of Spring.  This one sweet stamp set flooded my brain with ideas and literally the magic began.

Circle of Spring, Stampin' Up!

Before I even had the paper out, I had the idea floating in my head.  I wanted all the things I love.

  • Typeset Designer Series Paper
  • Watercoloring
  • Tiny trinkets like pearls, tiny flowers, and very thin Washi Tape from a Project Life kit
  • Doilies… it’s always on my favorites list

With everything set in front of me, I jumped in.

Circle of Spring, Stampin' Up!

Create it!

Follow along with these steps and you can create with me…

  1. Daffodil Delight cardstock 8-1/2 x 11, Whisper White cardstock 4 x 5-1/2 and 3 x 4-1/2.  Shimmery White Cardstock 3-1/2 x 3-1/2.  Typeset DSP 1/4 x 2-3/4.
  2. Fold the Daffodil Delight cardstock in half.  Corner round the bottom right edge.  Corner round the Whisper White cardstock on the right bottom edge. Adhere the Whisper White cardstock to the Daffodil Delight cardstock all the way to the right edge with dimensionals.  Adhere the Washi Tape along the left edge of the Whisper White cardstock.
  3. Create a Label using the Lots of Labels Framelits and Whisper White cardstock.  Using Aqua Painter and Pear Pizzaz ink, watercolor down the entire front of the Label.  Let dry.  Add splatter using Tangerine Tango ink over label.
  4. Adhere the Typeset DSP along the right edge of the Label using Snail Adhesive.  Stamp Hello Spring using Archival Basic Black ink.  Attach a small piece of White Tea Lace Doily and Gold small doily on the back left side of the label.  Adhere to the front of the card using dimensionals.
  5. Stamp the wreath using Archival Basic Black ink onto Shimmery White cardstock.  Die cut the wreath using the Wonderful Wreath Framelits Die.  Watercolor using Aqua Painter and the following inks: Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow.  Splatter over the wreath using Tangerine Tango, and Daffodil Delight ink.  Attach Gold Thread to the backside of the wreath, attach wreath to the label using dimensionals.
  6. Tie a bow using the Daffodil Seam Binding ribbon.  Attach bow to wreath using Mini Glue Dots.
  7. Using a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, punch the flower using the Tree Builder punch.  Attach flowers to the label framelit using Mini Glue Dots.
  8. Enjoy!

Creating Joy!

As I said earlier when I first started this project I had to dig deep into my Artisan box to find this little gem of a stamp set, Circle of Spring.  I also had to dig deep to find my creativity. When that moment finally kicked in and the magic began to happen- I felt GREAT about the project I was creating… it brings joy. SO MUCH JOY!!

I hope it brings joy to you.  Circle of Spring is a beautiful stamp set, perfect for this season.  The wreath can be created in numerous ways and one that I will be using many more times.

It’s time to see what my friend Krista has designed for our Artisan Blog Hop.  She always has something magical up her sleeve.

Challenging Your Creativity, Do You?

Challenging Your Creativity, Do You?

This week I’ve been talking about getting my crafty mojo back.  I’m still there so bare with me.

Sometimes it takes longer than I’d like, and that is the reality.

Artisan Blog Hop!

Today the Artisans are sharing their work and this is always inspirational to me and definitely a lift when you have creative block.

For me and my project…. well, I’m not going to lie.  It’s not my favorite project I’ve ever made.  This was truly a challenge and one that ended up in the garbage a few times only to be saved and played with more.

Challenging, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

Here is the deal…

In my box of love I received from Stampin’ Up!,  I had this gorgeous ribbon- 1″ Stitched Watermelon Wonder Satin Ribbon.

There is no doubt it’s beautiful.  Kimberly just didn’t know what to do with it.  I had this ribbon going all sorts of ways on my card. This was challenging my creativity like you wouldn’t believe.

But wait…. there is more.

I also challenged myself with Cucumber Crush cardstock and ink.  This color is a really tough one for me.  Do you have a color that is really tough for you to work with?

Challenging, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

Let it Go….

There came a time when I was creating this I finally said…..  LET IT GO and be done with it.  I did just that.

Challenging, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

Here is what I love……

I can’t deny I love these balloons and love them stamped on Crumb Cake cardstock.  I also love Linen Thread hanging from them.

AND…. I also love that bright Cucumber Crush peeking out from the Crumb Cake cardstock. Giggle.  Want to know another thing….

Cucumber Crush is growing on me.  Everywhere I look I see this color.

This time next year I might be crying my eyes out over this color leaving the In Color collection.  That would be something to really giggle over.

Challenging, Stampin' Up!, Artisan Blog Hop

Lesson Learned…..

I learned that it’s okay to not love every project I create and don’t give up on it or myself.

Friends, I hope that you know creative block is REAL and all crafters go through it.  Sometimes it can go away quickly.  Sometimes it takes longer.  There is no doubt we have an abundance of resources to gain inspiration from.  That’s the beautiful thing about this community.  We can be inspired in so many ways.  We need to let that inspiration soak in and let our own inspiration flow when it’s ready.

If you are looking for a challenge… Try out these colors below.  I left out the Crumb Cake because it’s a neutral color.  It goes with anything.  Try it with Whisper White.  Or Basic Black.

You can see all the products I used for this card in the clickable links below.

Be Inspired….

Go ahead and grab your favorite drink and be inspired by the other Artisans.  These women blow me away with their creative flare and the ideas they come up with.  Up next on the hop is Krista.  Not only does she inspire me as a crafter, I love her fun crazy personality and especially watching her from a far with her 3 kids.  Her personality shines through everything she does.  Just click the button below and enjoy a little creativity.
