Special Reason For Special People!

Special Reason, Stampin' Up!

Although I never need a special reason to stamp with friends, every month I do get an extra special reason to stamp with a group of ladies I love.  My stamp club meets once a month at my home, and it’s always so exciting to have them.  To hear them laugh and enjoy the company of friends all while stamping is so good for the soul.

This month at stamp club I was excited to use a stamp set I had not used, Special Reason.  After I had created the project and cut all of the supplies, I found out this was a stunning bundle, and it was sold out.

At first, I wanted to cry. I loved how the card turned out and wanted my stampers to create it.  The thought of changing the project crossed my mind, but then I said no way.  We went ahead with the project, and I added another project to their list of cards to create.

Tips & Tricks

Here are a few tips when creating this card.

  • I stamped the flowers using Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride ink.  The leaves were stamped using Pear Pizzaz.
  • I used the largest flower from the Stylish Stems Framelits Dies on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cut the flower in the center.  To add color to the flower, I used a 3 x 3 piece of Watercolor Paper, then watercolored the paper using Calypso Coral.  To create dimension, I placed dimensionals on the back of the Whisper White cardstock.
  • There is two label dies in this framelit set.  I die cut both of the labels, then attached them together to create a faux embossed look.  The greeting was stamped onto the smallest label.

  • Lastly, I added pearls and splatter to the card front.  I also added dew drops by taking my Fine-Tip Glue pen and dropping small dots of the glue randomly around the flowers.  I set this piece to the side until the drops dried on their own.

Surprise on the Inside

One thing I’m typically not good at is stamping the inside of a card.  Not the case for this card.  The greeting I used for this card was meant for a surprise on the inside.  I love how it turned out.

I stamped the flowers using Blushing Bride ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4″ x 5-1/4″.  The greeting was stamped using the Archival Basic Black ink.

While I’m disappointed this stamp set and framelits are no longer available, I can see why.  This set has beautiful floral images and greetings.

I’m sure many of you have this stamp set, and if anything I have inspired you to create another card using it.  If you do not have this set, the design itself can be duplicated with the many floral sets Stampin’ Up! does have available.
