Annoyed- It Happens!

Grab your coffee… or better yet, grab a glass of wine.  If it wasn't so early I may sip some with you.

I'm working on my "me" album this morning and reflecting on some thougths that are constantly reoccuring in my tiny head more often than not.  You know… the "CRAZY" thoughts.

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

I'm 42. Some say this could be hormones.  Some say I've always been crazy so crazy thoughts are just normal for me.  But can I tell you that I'm concerned? These are CRAY CRAY thoughts!  Read on…

I've been talking to you about telling your story.  It's so important. It's like keeping a diary putting your thoughts on paper (or digital).  Writing about yourself is not easy.  In fact one of the reasons I don't share more of my "me" album is because of the personal nature of the book.  You might even think I loved myself too much. That statement could not be any farther from the truth.

Ah, don't get me wrong… I don't hate myself either.  I've always said you have to love yourself before you can love others.  I love everyone, well most.

The concern? I find myself annoyed ALL the time.  Normal things that would never bother me tend to crush my spirit these days.  One of the worst…. hang tight……. the "comparison" thing.

Yep, I said it!

Comparing myself to others.  Oh jeez. I despise that word. It makes me CRAZY!

But c'mon…. as females we do it all the time.  I can read or see something on Facebook and think to myself, "Kimber, you should do that. You should be that. You should try that… You should, you should, you should!"

Oh good grief.  At the end of the day I'm not sure what I "SHOULD" do.  Then the crazy thoughts fill my head and by the end of the day I am deflated, tearful and Russ thinks I've gone off the deep end… again!

I had a little selfie talk this morning!  Here is what I should do….

I should remember that I am worthy! I am ME! I am who I am. I am so blessed.

I should remember that I don't have the super powers that I would love to have.

I should remember that I can only do what's physically and mentally possible in a 24 hour period and others do not expect more from me.

I should remember that I am surrounded by the most amazing friendships a girl could ever in a lifetime ask for. Those who do not like me, it's okay.  I'm still worthy.

I should remember that I'm not perfect.  Never have been.  I can try all the time, it's not in my DNA.

I should remember that comparing myself to others is not necessary.  I cannot be them.  Being me is what I am supposed to be.

So while my spirit may be crushed a few times by "annoying things" in the grand scheme of it all, I have to remember those "things" are so very small compared to the big picture of my life.  I have a happy life. Seriously, a happy life.

So back to telling YOUR story…  A year from now I will open this book of me and see this entry.  I will sit back and reflect on the growth of the past year.  Seeing it in writing is powerful.   5 years from now I hope my little girl opens this book as she enters high school and sees that comparing yourself to others is normal… even mommy did it.  I hope she feels self worth and can see mommy did too.

I'm wearing my heart on my sleeve today, but really… I want you to tell your story.  You are important.

Going for a Ride!

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

Not literally, but many of the products on this card are taking a hike instead.  That's right. Soon you will not be able to order the Fan Fair DSP or First Edition Specialty paper.  I'm already having withdrawls from the thoughts of First Edition DSP retiring.  What will I do??

I decided to sit down and just work with some of my favorite things.  The Spring Mini has been one of my favorite catalogs ever. The Artisan Embellishment Kit was my favorite by far.  You and I both know I gave those products a really good workout.  I decided to add it to ths card too.

Two products on this card are new: Show & Tell 1 (#133450) and Banner Greetings (#129714). Check out the teensy tiny banners.  I know you may be thinking, "Kimberly! Cutting those tiny banners would be a pain!" Non-sense! They are a cinch.  They are so tiny and they are just a few cuts.

I attached the banner to a toothpick and tied a crazy knot using Bakers Twine around the toothpick to make a fun banner.  That Bakers Twine came from the Delicate Boutique Boxes.  It's GRAY!

Feeling Coastal?

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

With the news of us moving to the Gulf Coast, you can bet the new In Color Coastal Cabana and I are going to be tight this year.  First, do you love the name? I guess it could of been a smidge better if they named it Cabana Boy!

This color is everywhere I turn.  It's SO Summer, yet SO vintage in it's own way too.  I guess you could say it's very well rounded in the style department. This is good.  I call this a "MUST HAVE" color.  In just a few days, it could be sitting on your ink shelf!

One of the colors I've enjoyed pairing it with is Soft Suede.  For this card I used two new Designer papers: Soho Subway and the Designer Series Paper Stack for the In Colors.  Both I love. Both have beautiful designs and both are going to be well LOVED in my stamp room.

This card is SUPER simple with just a few little elements added.  It's my new thing.  Small, tiny elements around the focal point.  I just love adding random rhinestones around an element too.  A trend I'm noticing is sequins.  I don't have any of those on hand so instead I am using Rhinestones in their place.  Who doesn't love a little bling bling?

Another tiny element that I'm in loving are the new Designer buttons.  What is so fun about these are the teensy weensy ones in the pack.  They are simply PERFECT.  I have a pack of brights that I was graciously given while in Fiji.  It's a perfect gift for Kimberly… BUTTONS!

You can see all the supplies to make this card below.

Make sure to check out the retired list to see if there are any items that you cannot live without. The current catalog is good until June 3rd.

Only 3 Days Left!

WHOA! It's really happening.  The Spring Mini is coming to an END!

Do you have all of your favorites from this great Mini Catalog?  I thought I would share some of my favorite projects from the Spring Mini this year.

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

I am in love with anything Doily! They are delicate and add so much to any project!

See all the products used on this project and more HERE

I ADORE the delicate boxes, even better… the Kraft Bakers Twine. *AWESOME!* Kimberly Van Diepen Stampin' Up!

One of my favorite things about the Spring Mini has been the kits.  I have definitely used them and enjoyed them.  The delicate Boutique Boxes kit is FANTASTIC!  You can see all the details on this kit HERE.

The Secret Garden Bundle has been a HUGE hit during this mini catalog.  The best thing is creating flowers and then using the framelits to cut them out.  Perfection.  You can see the details for this project HERE!

What has been your favorite stamp or product this Spring season?

Remember, you can find all of your favorite products in my Online Store.  There are not many days left to to grab your favorite products. May 31st is the LAST day for the Spring Mini!!

Now for something simple and new.

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

I used the Hexagon Textured Embossing Folder on the Smoky Slate Cardstock.  I have to say I'm falling in love with this color.

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

To create the background with the Washi Tape, I simply ran them across the cardstock diagonally and trimmed any excess that was hanging.  I love the Epic Day Washi tape and especially love how it coordinates with the Smoky Slate Cardstock.

Stamp set: Really Good Greetings #130333 Cardstock: Smoky Slate, Whisper White, Basic Gray Ink: VersaMark

Accessories:  Epic Day Washi Tape #131269, Whisper White Embossing Powder #109132, Honeycomb Emobssing Folder #129378, Square punch #124094
