Rags to Riches- Fabric

It's no surprise in my house that I own THREE sewing machines and most of them only see the needle through paper OR fabric to paper more than anything.  When it comes to my crafting supplies I'm pretty good and getting lots of mileage out of each and every thing I own.  I make sure it's touched, played with and crafted in some way to inspire others.

There is ONE exception…. FABRIC!  I have it lined up beautifully on a shelf.  It's so beautiful that I have the hardest time taking it off the shelf and putting it to a crafting use.  Once I get crazy and decide I want to create with my Stampin' Up! fabric it's not for any huge project but I do love to add it to a card.  Stampin' Up! Fabric is HIGH quality and quite frankly just darn CA-UTE in the pattern department!

I pulled a little off my shelf today!  Oh boy!

I used the Tea for Two Designer Fabric in the Spring Mini.  50% off to boot!

Plenty of little elements on this card to talk about.

My favorite being the March Paper Pumpkin Image "Hey There Friend".

For this card I omitted the "Hey There" and just used "friend."

The gold speckles is the other image that came with the Paper Pumpkin kit this month.

Gold… I've fallen in love again.  Exciting to see it make a come back.

I just embossed the speckles with a little gold embossing powder.

Adding fabric to your cards is not hard AT all.  I literally ripped a few strips and did a straight stitch across the card.

Easy Peasy!

The Natural ribbon is tattered on the ends by simply pulling the threads.  Again, not hard to make a SHABBY card.

You can see all the supplies for this card below.

Take advantage of this 50% off fabric promotion this week.  Ends March 31st.

Ahhh… Sweet December!

Can you believe it? Sweet December! 25 days until Jolly St. Nick visits! Holiday preps in place!

Hopefully I didn't stress YOU out!

December is an exciting month for me!  Why you ask?

First, I *LOVE* Christmas!

Second, it's been 6 years since I started this blog.  6 YEARS!!!

The other day I took a LONG trip down memory lane.  I was totally sucked into reading what I've been up too.  6 years ago I was on the great adventure of moving from Florida to Colorado and needed a *place* to share with all my Florida friends.  Wow!  At the time I had NO idea I would be sharing WORLD WIDE!  Remember, I am a blonde.  When I started the blog I didn't have a clue of what I was beginning.  Honestly, there are days I still feel that.  Regardless, as I took my little memory trip I was drawn to many exciting things.  It all started on December 5th, 2006!

It's amazing to see how much my kids have grown over the years, so many stories shared, SO many projects from Stampin' Up! created.  On my journey of reading through I also stopped back to read the comments.  I am one grateful lady.

To my readers, THANK YOU!  You put up with my ramblings, listen to my silliness and always give me amazing feedback.  I can't thank you enough.  Well I can… just make sure you check back on December 5th!  *snicker*

Of course, over the last 6 years technology has changed so much and now you can follow me just about anywhere besides my little bloggy.

I have a love affair with technology. I love social networking because I feel a special connection with YOU.  I also love to share.  Always have, always will.  This is exactly WHY I love Stampin' Up! so much.  They have given me the vehicle to share what I love- crafting!

Just where can you follow me these days?

CRAZY! Right??  Seriously, it's all about having fun and that's EXACTLY what I do! LOTS of it.

I share different things on different sites.  Whatever my mood may be. :)  <wink>

So, if you are in the mood click the button and follow along.  I plan to make this December full of surprises.  <wink, wink>

Speaking of sharing…. if you made it this far and didn't fall asleep on me I do have something kinda pretty I wanted to share.

Do you like to add a little stitching to your paper crafting designs? I own a little Janome Sew Mini that sits on my desk.  It's tiny and perfect to sew little notions on a card or paper crafting project.

I put the Sew Mini to use with this card above.  WIth just a little bit of Stampin' Up's  gorgeous Scalloped Tulle I was able to pleat two colors of Tulle together for a fun look.

I added the Poinsettia image from the Watercolor Winter stamp set for a "Winter Look!"  I used three images piled onto each other and gave them a little crinkle in my hand. To keep them together I hand sewed a little button with Linen Thread right into the center.

So grab a little thread, sewing machine and beautiful tulle and get started.

Create something with a little thread today.

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Watercolor Winter, Lovely Little Labels

Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla

Ink: Early Espresso

Accessories: Scallop Tulle, Little Labels Punch Pack, Neutral buttons, Linen Thread, Vintage Trinkets, First Edition DSP, Sewing Machine

Purse-onally Speaking!

Kimberly Van Diepen Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

Kimberly Van Diepen Stampin' Up!

When this die cut arrived at my house the first person to SQUEAL with delight was the one and only American Girl Doll Lover…. Alexis.  You could hear that child scream for miles.  She was so excited that she could make ANY kind of Purse for her American Girl Dolls.  Stampin' Up! had no idea they made a little 9 year old so stinkin' happy.  This die cut is just too cute.  It's great for any party favor.  When I was in Michigan a few weeks ago one of our team members, Dawn showed us her darling purses that she had made and she used our Stampin' Up! fabric.  I thought she was a genius.  I loved how the fabric made the purse look more "real" so to speak.  My stamp club made these darling purses and loved how quick and easy they are to put together.  We took the Sizzix Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets and adhered the fabric to them before placing it on the Big Shot.   I used a piece of cardstock on the front flap to make the purse a little stronger and I wanted to stamp on the front just a wee bit.  We then just added a few ribbon embellishments to make this purse a little fluffy and girlie. We used the Styled Beautiful stamp on the front flap as it was just enough to add a little stamping touch to it.  Lastly, a little Antique Brad topped it off. You will be able to order this new die on June 1st.  It's SUPER exciting.

Now Alexis has her first American Girl Doll purse.  I'm sure this won't be the last.

Here is another layout for my Disney Album as well:
