Valentines Stuff Already?

Valentines Stuff Already?

Earlier tonight Alexis and I made a trip to our local dollar store and we came to a complete halt.

There it was starring right at us, Valentines stuff.

When your 13 year old looks at you and say’s “Really Mom?”, you know it’s early.

The funny part… I had just created a Valentines card yesterday.  I didn’t have the heart to tell Alexis.

Although she knows her mama is crazy and celebrates all holidays months before they actually happen because that is how I roll.

Create a Fruity Valentines

Thought I would share my Valentines card using the Fruit Stand Suite in the main Stampin’ Up! catalog.

Valentines, Stampin' Up!, Fresh Fruit

I pulled out my neglected Fresh Fruit stamp set and the coordinating Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper  so I could create this Valentines card.

One thing about fruit stamps, you can use them all year long.

When creating this card I was inspired by something I say to my kids all the time… “You are the apple of my eye!”

While there may not be hearts fluttering all over the card, hopefully the greeting and the “apples” capture my inspiration for Valentines.

Create It!

Creating this card uses minimal products and quick to pull together.

Valentines, Stampin' Up!, Fresh Fruit

  • Cardstock base is Whisper White Thick cardstock 4-1/4″ x 11.
  • Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper measures 4″ x 5-1/4″.
  • Both of the apple images were stamped using Real Red and Watermelon Wonder inks, and Garden Green for the stems onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3″ x 4″.  This is placed onto a mat of Watermelon Wonder cardstock 3-1/8″ x 4-1/8″.
  • The greeting is stamped using Watermelon Wonder onto Whisper White cardstock and die cut using Stitched Shapes Framelits.  These framelits will be back in stock mid January.  I’ll keep you posted.
  • I added two of my favorite embellishments, 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon (pulling one thread to wrap in a circle) and a small piece of a Delicate White Doily.  I’m a huge fan of the 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon because of the individual threads. I find I use this all the time on my cards.  You can see another example HERE and HERE.

Begin Your New Year With Creating

There are so many great things you can start in the New Year.

Have you thought about crafting and creating handmade cards or other projects?

With Stampin’ Up! you can create beautiful projects with a few simple tools.

The new year brings new beginnings and new hobbies.

Maybe this will be your year to create new beginnings and a new hobby.

Simple or Experienced

All crafters start somewhere.

13 years ago I had never heard of Stampin’ Up! and had no clue what rubber stamping was.  It’s amazing to see where I’ve come from that point.

I enjoy the simplest of projects to the more complex.  As long as I’m stamping, I’m a happy girl.

Today I want to share with you two stamping projects, one very simple and the other a little more complex.

Paper Pumpkin

Regardless of where your experience falls with crafting, Stampin’ Up!’s Paper Pumpkin subscription is perfect to meet many needs.

You might be someone who is just starting to find the joy of rubber stamping.  Or maybe you are someone that loves to craft but find very little time to enjoy it.

Paper Pumpkin is a stamping kit that comes to your door with everything cut and ready to go for you to create unique projects each month.

Creating, Paper Pumpkin, Stampin' Up!

This is a little sneak peek of the December Paper Pumpkin kit.  The new crafter can create a beautiful Year End Scrapbook or you can use the project contents to create a project more to you’re liking such as a card.

I don’t know about you, but I love OPTIONS!

As a Paper Pumpkin subscriber with me, you will receive up to 12 tutorials each month with ideas to use with you’re monthly kit. These tutorials can be used with your kit or you can simply use these tutorials to learn new stamping ideas.  It’s completely free to you as a Paper Pumpkin subscriber with me.

Step it Up!

If you have been a crafter for a while, stepping up a project is always fun.

Keep in mind, stepping it up doesn’t mean its difficult.  It could mean just a few extra layers of cardstock or embellishments.

It could also mean learning a fun new technique.

Create, Paper Pumpkin, Stampin' Up!

This card was created using the Oh So Succulent stamp set available from the Occasions Catalog available on January 4th.

Create It!

Whether you are using the Oh So Succulent stamp set, the simple technique used below can be used with other lined image stamps.

Each flower has ink color added using a Sponge Dauber stamped into the center of each flower.

The colors used for the centers of the flowers include:

  • Cucumber Crush
  • Bermuda Bay
  • Sweet Sugarplum
  • Mint Macaron

Create, Paper Pumpkin, Stampin' Up!

The flowers can be die cut (coordinating die cut) or fussy cut with scissors and then layered onto the card front.

The Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate adds a beautiful touch to any project.

You will also see a simple technique using cardstock to create a felt ribbon.  Click HERE to watch a video on this technique.

Finish it Up!

Create, Paper Pumpkin, Stampin' Up!

Enamel Dots, the last embellishment added to the card front for a finishing touch.  These come in a variety of colors that coordinate with Stampin’ Up! cardstock, inks and other embellishments.

Color coordination of products makes creating simple with Stampin’ Up! and one of my favorite things about our products.

It’s Not Just for Lovers!

It’s Not Just for Lovers!

I can definitely say that I did not make enough Valentines this year for my lovely friends and family.  Normally this is a holiday I am all over.  I didn’t even get to make my Prince the mass of cards I normally do.

Here is the thing… this always gets me thinking.   Valentines is all about love.  I *love* 365 days of the year.  Why do I have the mindset that I can only send love cards on one specific day of the year?

We need to think bigger than that and let’s be honest here friends… our world can use a WHOLE lot more love spreading around.  Truth?

I pulled out my Bloomin’ Love stamp set and decided to make it NOT so “Valentines” but still all about the love.

Lovers, Love, Bloomin' Love, Stampin' Up!

I kept the colors for this card nice and bright.  Filled with love and sunshine.

Create It!

I started this card by stamping the flowers using Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay.  Three colors I’m very much drawn too lately.

I created a textured background on the Bermuda Bay cardstock using the Lovely Lace embossing folder.

Lovers, Love, Bloomin' Love, Stampin' Up!

My favorite part of this card is the tiny doily sticking out at the top right of the card.  Do you see it?

Another addition to this card was the tiny pearls.  You can see them near the flowers as I scattered them randomly around them.

Lovers, Love, Bloomin' Love, Stampin' Up!

This goes to show you that the Bloomin’ Love stamp set is not just for lovers day.

I’ll be sending to a friend to brighten her day.  Spreading a little more love is something we should do more.  Not just for birthdays…. but for the everyday.

Love.  Every. Day.

You can find all of the products I used for this card below in the clickable links.

Don’t forget to check out the new Sale-a-Bration items added.  The bike… the birds in that cute little set… the possibilities….

Be still my HEART!

No worries, I’ll be sharing soon.

Going Global – Inspiration

Going Global – Inspiration

Happy Saturday! I’m bringing inspiration to you today using the Going Global stamp set.

This entire suite is versatile for any occasion throughout the year.

Going Global, Stampin' Up!

The greetings in this set was the eye catcher for me and the perfect coordination with the images.  Let’s take a peek at these pretty samples.

Going Global, Stampin' Up!

I don’t know about you but most of my friends live a LONG distant from me.  Probably why this greeting was perfection in my eyes.  I love the encouragement it would send to my friends via happy mail.

Going Global, Stampin' Up!

Going Global, Stampin' Up!

The 2″ Circle Punch coordinates beautifully with the compass.  It can also be used with the globe image.

Going Global, Stampin' Up!

The Sweetheart punch (our heart punch) also coordinates perfectly.

Going Global, Stampin' Up!

Notice that each of the cards use the World Traveler Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  This folder not only coordinates perfectly for this set but would also be great to use with the following stamp sets:

Lastly, the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack has 48 sheets: 4 each of 12 designs all 6 x 6 in size.  A few of the sheets have the very trendy “marbled” look that I’ve noticed in big box stores on stationary and party essentials.  I always love to see trends like this come into play with my crafting.
Here are a few more samples from the catalog that I just LOVE.

Going Global will make a great addition to your stamp collection and one that you can use for many occasions.  The samples above are just a highlight of the potential this set has to offer.  Are you ready to add this to your collection? Can You Find Happiness?

Happiness…

I think that everywhere we look we can find happiness in something.  Don’t you?

I say this because even in my darkest of times I still found joy in small things. When I mean small… I mean like really small.  Somedays just getting out of the bed was joy.

I bring this up because I think we tend to focus on to much of the negative and not enough of the positive. Plus, my card inspired the emotions.

Tonight at dinner (9 pm mind you) we finally had the chance to sit at the dinner table together. Our lives with these teenagers keeps the pace on a level that I don’t particularly like but I know it’s a season.

Casual conversation was happening and then all of a sudden we were a family of 4 arguing about the stupidest things.

I continued to eat as the others decided to argue.  Just as casual as the conversation had been I looked up at my family and asked a simple question.

“Does this bring you joy?”

You could of heard a pin drop.

Faces of my children are now long and they could see mom was quite annoyed but I repeated, “Does this bring you joy?”

I proceeded to tell my kids and husband that during dinner it was the one time I had each of them captive to sit and enjoy each other.  Time to ask the little things about the day and how it went.  Arguing was not joyful and despite their better judgement I was sure it was not bringing them joy but tension instead.

In that moment I asked another question. “What brings YOU joy?”

Our conversation changed around the table tonight as we talked about this and the dialogue between the kids and Russ and I turned from ugly to a bit more enjoyable.  This isn’t always the case but I will tell you I was firm in my decision that at my dinner table we would speak kindly and find joy in the small things.

I don’t know where most of you are in your family life but I can bet you have been in this “mama” position I was in tonight.  I will say that raising teenagers is definitely been trying on most days, but I think we are going to survive.

I think.

My Joy

While raising my kids is joyful (let’s be real… they are hormonal teenagers) my joy comes from creating.  I love seeing how people react to something handmade.  It’s happiness for me.

Today I am sharing a little Valentine for my prince.  This is when I love to shower him with tons of cards leading up to Valentines day.  In short it’s my way of showing my love and guilting him a bit.  (just keeping it real!)

It’s also a TGIF Challenge so you can play along too!!

Happiness, Project Life, Stampin' Up!

I decided to pull out my Project Life stash to create this card.  I was so surprised how quickly this came together.

Remember this- if you are in a pinch and need a card, pull out your Project Life stash.

Memories in the Making- Project Life

Happiness, Project Life, Stampin' Up!

I pulled out my latest addition to my Project Life stash- Memories in the Making.  I used the Accessories kit on page 43 of the Occasions Catalog and the Specialty Card Collection that is FREE in the Sale-a-Bration catalog with every $50 order.  See page 8.

Tips & Tricks

I started this card with the Whisper White Thick cardstock.  I love using the thick cardstock for my card bases.

My greeting came from the Accessory Pack and was a 2 x 2 Project Life card.  I simply punched the card using my 1-3/4″ Circle punch.  The Gold Acetate card was die cut using the Circles Framelits.  The acetate is a little too thick for your punch.

The elements were adhered onto the Project Life card and then I added a Basic Black matte to the back of the card to give it a pop of color.

The sweet enamel shapes were a simple addition to also give a pop of color.

Happiness, Project Life, Stampin' Up!

I wanted quick and simple today and that’s exactly what I created.  In the process, I created happiness for myself knowing that my special someone, my Prince will enjoy it.  He really is my HAPPY.

I hope this encourages you in a few ways today.  First, find joy in the small things even when times are tough and you are struggling.  Second, pull out your Project Life stash if you have it.  Use it to capture those memories or make a quick card.  Either way, enjoy the process and find happiness.
