Spooky Cat

This month I used the Spooky Cat Bundle to create my project for the tutorial and today’s project.  If you have been around my blog for some time, you already know Halloween is one of my favorite times to create.  Not only do I love the images, but I also love the color combinations you can use for Halloween.

The Spooky Cat Bundle makes me smile with the Cat Punch.  Especially because you can use the Cat Punch past the holidays.

Quick Tips

Below are a few quick tips creating this card.

  • I stamped seven cats onto Fresh Fig cardstock using the Spooky Cat image with Fresh Fig ink.  Once punched, I attached the punched images to Fresh Fig cardstock (3-3/4 x 5-1/2″).
  • The designer paper is a 1″ strip using the Spooky Night DSP.
  • I embossed the greeting onto Basic Black cardstock using White Embossing Powder.
  • I  stamped the mouse onto Pumpkin Pie cardstock onto a Circle Tab punched.  SOOO cute.

Forgive Me, I Can’t Stop! Jar of Haunts

Jar of Haunts

Forgive me because I can’t stop.  The Jar of Haunts has been one of my favorite Halloween stamp sets!

I put the stamp set on the shelf.  I told myself it was time to move on.

What happened?

Well, it was time for an Artisan blog hop and I couldn’t help to pull out this cute stamp set.

Cute Always Gets Me!

The fact is, if something is cute I’m going to love it.

Jar of Haunts cute factor sold me right away.

xJar of Haunts, Stampin' Up!

Now if you add in the Pool Party to this entire Halloween mix… I have now hit the edge of Halloween glory.

Jar of Haunts, Stampin' Up!

Tips & Tricks

  • Start coloring of the jars with a blender pen.  When blending color on Whisper White with a Blender Pen, be careful not to blend the pen in one area for too long.  This will create what I love to call “paper boogers!” The paper will begin to peel.
  • To create  brighter color after using a blender pen, try taking a Sponge Dauber and sponge lightly over images.
  • The Everyday Jar Framelits coordinates perfectly with the Jar of Haunts stamp set.

Nothing Haunted Here!

Jar of Haunts, Stampin' Up!

There was nothing haunted about this next card.  The pumpkins were stamped onto Watercolor Paper, then watercolored using an Aqua Painter.

Jar of Haunts, Stampin' Up!

The pumpkins were masked to give the illusion of the pumpkins stacked to gather.

Tips & Tricks

  • To achieve the look of the pumpkins stacked together, stamp a pumpkin onto a post in note.  Cut around the image as close as possible.
  • Stamp one pumpkin onto Watercolor Paper.  When stamping the next pumpkin, apply mask over first pumpkin.  Now stamp the pumpkin next to the first one.  Do you see how the pumpkin you just stamped looks like its behind the other?
  • Watercolor the pumpkins using Pumpkin Pie ink first.  Then watercolor using Tangerine Tango around the edges to darken the color.
  • Watercolor the sky using Soft Sky ink.

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts

Do you need a quick and simple Halloween party idea?

Today I’m sharing a simple Halloween card and fun treat bag.

You will just die over the cuteness the Jar of Haunts creates with the Everyday Jar Framelits.

Another huge bonus…

Today is a fantastic blog hop with the Creation Station…. our theme is “To Die For!”

Creating a Mesh for Mr. Mummy!

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts, Stampin' Up!

This mummy image in the Jar of Haunts is definitely a favorite for many.

I had a fleeting idea to create mesh background to coordinate with the mummy.

This was a simple task using Stampin’ Up!’s Ghoulish Grunge stamp set.

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts, Stampin' Up!

Create It!

To create the layered mesh background for the mummies to layer onto, follow these steps:

  • Begin by stamping the mesh background image onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock that measures (3-1/2 x 4-3/4) using Sahara Sand ink.
  • Tear cardstock into 4-5 strips.  Crumble and fold each of the strips of cardstock into your hands until they are a ball.
  • In addition, unfold each strip, sponge Sahara Sand ink over each of the strips to add emphasis to the wrinkles in the paper.
  • Layer and overlap each of the cardstock strips onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 using dimensionals.  Leave a small amount of the Whisper White cardstock showing at the top and do not adhere the top layer completely.

  • Layer the Whisper White cardstock onto Sahara Sand cardstock measuring 3-5/8 x 4-7/8 using Fast Fuse Adhesive.
  • Wrap a piece of Very Vanilla Thick Bakers Twine around the layers, tie in a knot and then another knot towards the bottom. Tip: Separate the Thick Bakers Twine so the twine is not as bulky around the card.
  • Using dimensionals, add this layer to a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock 3-3/4 x 5.
  • Create tag for the top of the card by die cutting a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Tags & Labels Framelits.  Sponge ink over the entire tag using Delightful Dijon ink.  Stamp happy halloween at the top of the tag using the Spooky Fun stamp set.  Place the tag behind the top layer of mesh using Fast Fuse Adhesive.

Add the Finishing Touches

  • Stamp mummy images using Archival Black ink onto Watercolor Paper and Sahara Sand cardstock.  Die cut images using Everyday Jar Framelits.  Watercolor the image on Watercolor Paper using Sahara Sand ink and an Aqua Painter.  Attach to the card front.  Add googlie eyes to mummies.
  • Finally, attach card front to Sahara Sand cardstock 4 x 5-1/4.  Layer onto Whisper white cardstock base  4-1/4 x 11.
  • Optional: add a little splatter to the card.  These mummy’s might be cute, but they need to be a little dirty.

Create a Coordinating Halloween Treat

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts, Stampin' Up!

In addition create a Halloween party idea using die cuts that can be quick and simple.

Stampin’ Up!’s Gusseted Cellophane Bags measure 3 x 6 and they are food safe.

By adding a simple tag topper using the largest die from the Lots of  Labels Framelits you can have a quick halloween treat in minutes.

Lastly, a simple treat added to the Gusseted Cellophane Bag completes this halloween party favor.

If you are in a crunch to create a fun halloween party idea, remember that die cuts can simplify your creating time with the Big Shot.  Choose a die cut that’s versatile and you will get more mileage from its use and create fun treats at the same time.  WIN!

One of the best parts about using the Jar of Haunts stamp set-NO fussy cutting.  This stamp set coordinates with the Everyday Jar Framelits.

Four Halloween Products- Which Are Your Favorites?

Halloween Favorites

Halloween is around the corner and I’m sharing my favorites today!

From years past if you look around this time of year on my blog you will see Halloween gets a heavy dose of love.

Halloween has always been a favorite holiday for me to create.

Why Halloween?

Of course when I tell people that Halloween is one of my favorites some people look at me like I’m crazy.

Why in the world?

Halloween is perfectly inline with my beliefs about creativity.  I love watching little ones creatively use their minds to dress up and  use their imagination. That’s it.  Nothing spooky about it… just pure CREATIVITY.

It’s exactly what I do when I create with paper.  I get to dress the card up and use my imagination.

Halloween images are cute, even though they have the spooky tendency.  Personally I do not see anything FOR REALZ spooky in a Halloween stamp.

Truthfully, they are spooky adorable.    The spooky tree is not going to give me any nightmares and though I’m not a fan of any bat, the bat images are SO adorable.

Four Favorite Halloween Products

Below are four of my favorite Halloween products this year.

You will notice that one is not considered a Halloween product.  It’s an everyday (all kinds of uses) product, however its PERFECT for Halloween.

Halloween Favorites, Stampin' Up!

I’ve placed all of my favorites on this one Halloween card to show you how quick and easy you can create a fun Halloween scene.

In general, these are my four favorite Halloween products today…. tomorrow is a different story.

  • Halloween Scares stamp set
  • Spooky Fun Photopolymer stamp set
  • Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies
  • Lots of Labels Framelits Dies

Halloween Favorites, Stampin' Up!

The Halloween Scares stamp set let’s you create a fun halloween scene.  When paired with the Spooky Fun stamp set, you not only have fun Halloween images, but now you can use the Halloween greetings.

The Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies create a fun addition to your Halloween card and the not so spooky tree is one of my favorite.s

Halloween Favorites, Stampin' Up!

The true favorite and most widely used of the Halloween favorite bunch is not even a Halloween related product.

The Lots of Labels Framelits Dies creates the perfect tombstone.  You could make your own graveyard with all the different sizes available.

I loved how I could die cut the smallest framelit to create a tiny tombstone for this card.

Halloween Favorites, Stampin' Up!

Another favorite about the Spooky Fun Halloween stamp set is the fonts used.  I love how slender they are.  Making it easy to add the greeting to a banner.

Let’s not forget the cutest one of all… “eek!” That little greeting cracks me up!!

Quick Tips:

  • The splatter was created using an Aqua Painter and Perfect Plum Ink.  Simply load the Aqua Painter with ink, tap over images using bone folder.
  • The moon was stamped and then gently sponged over the image using a sponge dauber and Delightful Dijon ink.
  • Attach the tree die cut image using Mini Glue Dots.

Which are Your Favorites?

I realize this holiday (if we can even call it that) is not a fan favorite for all, but I hope I could give you a little inspiration on a few favorites of my own and why this spooky celebration ignites my imagination and creativity.

What are your favorite Halloween images? Do you have a favorite product this year? OR… do you think I’ve fallen off the pumpkin truck?

Regardless, I would love to hear from you.
