Happy Birthday Gorgeous

It’s time for an Artisan Blog Hop! It’s always exciting to bring 20 Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world and see how we can take a stamp set and create in so many different ways.  I’m using the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set I think you will love.

Not only does the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set have lots of beautiful images, the coordinating framelits is perfection.

Create a Fun Background

I didn’t realize how fun the Happy Birthday Framelit would make a sweet background for my card.  Plus the Wisteria Wonder and Fresh Fig inks looked gorgeous together.

Tips & Tricks

  • I decided to create a fun background for my first card by creating a watercolor background first using Wisteria Wonder Ink on Watercolor Paper.
  • Once the watercolor had set in place, I die cut the Happy Birthday image using the Happy Birthday Framelits, however, I left the die cut in place.  I love how this looks and love that you can still distinguish the greeting very well.
  • The new ribbons from Stampin’ Up! are perfect for creating an accordion fold and then securing with a staple.
  • I added a little splatter by loading my Aqua Painter with Fresh Fig ink, then holding the Aqua Painter over the image, I tapped the Aqua Painter using a Bone Folder.
  • I layered a few pieces of Designer Series Paper, ribbon and a doily at the bottom with the greeting and a sweet little flower for a finishing touch.
  • Lastly, I added the Glitter Enamel Dots.  They are one of my FAVORITES to embellish a card with.

A Completely Different Look

Here is another card I created with a completely different look but just as fun.

I love how delicate these tiny flowers look.  I stamped and embossed some of them directly onto the Shimmery White cardstock layer and then stamped a few and fussy cut to add dimension to the card.  The flowers are super simple to fussy cut.

One of my favorite things to do is bring products together such as framelits.  I used one of my favorites such as the Stitched Shapes Framelits as well as a new one from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  The scallop edge is by far one thinlit that will get a TON of use.  I’ve always been a big sucker for scallops.

You Choose

I’m not sure which one I’d choose as a favorite as both are very different in the way they are laid out.  I do love that each has the delicate flowers embossed giving them a little more elegance.  I do love the smaller greeting fonts in this stamp set because I love to create thin banners.  The smaller fonts are perfect for this.

Which is your favorite?

  2. Gorgeous!! So much to love, I can’t even start! Well, ok, the fussy cutting always impresses me. And the die cut left in the negative. And the spatters and wash…. need I go on?!

  3. Very pretty cards, as always. Love how you left the die cut in and the splatters. I should have just said, I agree with Tanya 🙂 Hope everything is ok Kimberly. Sending thoughts XO

  4. both of your cards are fantastic – but the second one is a favorite! I love the torn folded coral piece of cardstock – such a simple overlooked idea – and it’s perfect! I’m going to have to steal that idea 🙂
