Birthday Blooms

Birthday Blooms is a stamp set that I was quickly drawn to because of the fonts used the greetings.  I love how they look.  The bonus of this set was the gorgeous flower that comes with it.

Watercoloring this flower is easy when you are using Watercolor Paper.  The Watercolor Paper gives you the ability to let the color absorb and you can continue to add colors and not find the paper peeling when doing so.

To watercolor this flower I used my Aqua Painter.  There are two brushes that come together when you order the Aqua Painter.  I tend to use the bigger brush for the larger areas and the fine tip brush for the more intricate areas.

You can see I added more of the darker shades of the yellows to the outside of the flower and especially on the buds.

I wanted to see a lot of definition for this flower.  To create that I stamped the flower and leaves a few times and then fussy cut.  When I colored the leaves and added them to the card, I cut the leaves separate from the flower and simply tucked the leaves under the larger flower.

You can really see the definition on this photo above.  Fussy cutting will always a little more time to card making but the intricate cuts really give you that fine detail.  I don’t do this on all of my cards, but once in awhile it’s fun to create a gem like this.  The extra details for this card included some Gold Metallic Thread and tiny pearls around the card. I also added a few brush strokes of the clear Wink of Stella around the flower and the Gold Wink of Stella on the inside of the flower.  Love how glimmering this makes the entire card.

Easter Lamb

The Easter Lamb has quickly become another favorite stamp of mine.  This sweet little lamb has so many uses besides Easter.

Creative Tips & Tricks

Once I had the lamb stamped and colored using Blushing Bride ink, I coated the circles with my Two-Way Glue Pen and sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds over it. Not only is he cute, he’s sparkly.

The greeting was stamped using an image from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.

The white twine that you see wrapped behind the layers is the White Jute Ribbon.  I simply separated the ribbon and then wrapped the twine in place and secured with a dimensional.

One of my other favorite products I used for this card is the gorgeous Pool Party Glitter Ribbon.  Not only is it pretty and laden with glitter, it’s pliable when you use it making bows and bending easy.  I love a ribbon that can bend like this because it makes my papercrafting easier.
